Was the 911 SC series the last production model with the 911 designation,
and when did Peter Schutz step down as CEO? Thanks for the info. |

Dyslectic, 1989
Then they were hyphenated 911's. The 964-911, the 993-911 for example. When Porsche started this nonsense I think they should have started nonsense like this earlier and we could all be driving hyphenated 356's, then we can say stupid stuff like "I have the 911- 356" Last edited by ficke; 06-03-2016 at 07:44 AM.. |

It was my understanding that they still make the 911. The non-911 numbers are internal factory designations, and fanboys took them as sacrosanct. Looks like they still do

350 six, of course is correct.
the OP first question was "Was the 911 SC series the last production model with the 911 designation", correct answer "no" Porsche made cars after the 911SC designated '911' And Shultz stepped down in 1986 |

What ficke said. But all are 911's (even the water cooled ones) but from 1988/89 Porsche just started to use an internal model code "officially".
+ what Mick said. |

A more interesting question would be - Why did Porsche start using the "Carrera" name from MY '84 for the basic 911!?
(And what is so "sport" or "super" with an SC? Never drove/saw/heard of a basic 911 or Carrera 78-83 ? |
