What are peoples thoughts... are there still 912 projects with engines out there for under $10k?
Does anyone have one? |

I drove this home from Santa Barbara to Long Beach for $500 cash - stock motor but rusty floors. But this was back in 2005.... I cannot believe how much the market has changed.

I bought a '68 in March, paid $2,500 for nearly a complete car minus motor, plus a bunch of extra parts. It's a rust bucket that I must do a lot of work on. I actually wanted a major project to tear down completely and rebuild so it was fine. There are deals out there but you've gotta really search. Have the cash in your hand whilst your hunting.
Engines run $3,500 to $10k so theoretically you could get there. Reality: you'll spend more than buying a running car. Be prepared to do a lot of work yourself.

unless your doing all of the work, then don't bother. just buy a solid running car. you'll be much happier. and it will be much cheaper.
