I agree with Matt.
I view RUF products equal to Porsche with regards to value and originality. But I'm not searching for a sub 20,000 mile car for my collection either. And I think the car looks better with the RUF wheels. |
Personally I like the look of the Ruf wheels on an IB car better than the fuchs. The issue I have with them are they are HEAVY. Nearly 30lbs a wheel which is at least 10 lbs per wheel heavier than a fuchs wheel. Thats a lot of extra unsprung weight if you care about such things.
As it seems most people just stare at their 911's these days rather than drive them, perhaps performance is less important than looks in the new aircooled 911 world ;) Todd |
[QUOTE=Rawknees'Turbo;930036 What a crying shame that would be; returning a performance car back to its as delivered, overly neutered state is the antithesis of sports-car-ism!
Lots of unmolested (what a poor description used by some ) 930s left for those who want/ need a stock one. My "basket of unredeemable deplorable" 930s will remain modded for my pleasure. Back to topic. Fuchs over RUF (stock vs mod ) an exception as in this case I have heard RUF wheels add to the unsprung weight so Fuchs would be my choice of these two. |
Just FYI.
The 17's are now produced by a different supplier, and are forged. I weighed one 10" last night IN the shipping box at 24.8lbs. Still not a lightweight, but they have reduced their weight by a fair margin. |
On the unmolested vs stock. Improved items made for the 930 after 1975 from original manufacturers ie; period wider than Fuchs wheels by BBS, period improved seats by Recaro, better radios by Blaupunkt and performance race parts for engine, suspension,, brakes that Porsche themselves "modded " for the 930 should hardly be considered molesting. Of course the rebodied to a configuration / design Porsche never dreamed of or with chevy motors, well that is a different story. So to me Fuchs, wider period BBS are best. Ruf wheels on a Ruf, yes, although they are one of the best looking of most wheels for a period substitute for a later 930.

The Fuchs should sell for more on your car. Subjectively I just like the simple black contrast to your gray car. The deep dish Fuchs

I had a few Turbos and had both sets of wheels.Nothing like unsprung weight.Ruf wheels had to pass the German TUV standard & they are heavier.I like the Fuchs but the BBS 3 Piece have always been my choice.Put on what you enjoy & envision & drive it.Fred
