Ruf speedlines vs 930 Fuchs
 

hello pelicans,

I have two sets of wheels for my 87' 911 coupe. i would like to know which wheel holds more value.
-mint all original 16x7 and 16x9 930 fuchs wheels
or
-mint Ruf Speedlines 17x8 and 17x9

always worried about value. sheesh. If you are worried about how much you can sell it for later you're in the wrong game.
Which do you prefer on the car aesthetically and performance-wise? Keep the set you like best. There's your answer.

Those are both gorgeous sets; I say the Ruf's are more valuable....

I'd run the set of Ruf wheels and keep the Fuchs for stock.
From what I've seen, the speedlines are bringing a bigger buck.

No need to be hard on the OP re: value. Maybe he likes both of them about equally, only wants to keep one, and wants to sell whichever set he can get more money for.

If you are selling the car the Fuchs will give you a higher price on the car. If you are selling the wheels the Speedlines will sell for more by themselves.

Definitely the Fuchs.

The RUF wheels all day long, but I am totally biased.

Cannot go wrong either way, beautiful car. Really looks nice with both sets.

I think Matt is spot on:
If you are selling the car the Fuchs will give you a higher price on the car. If you are selling the wheels the Speedlines will sell for more by themselves.

Think Fuchs will by far outrun Ruf Speedlines in the long run. (5 years ->)

Reasons:
- currently lots of 930's are with incorrect wheels.
- when the "big wheel fever" is over, those 930's will start looking for correct wheels
- speedlines are "aftermarket" wheel for 911's and 930's. More will come to market, when cars are returned to original spec, but there are fewer folks looking to modify.

Anticipate that for all 930 parts. 930's have been modded a lot during the years, many will return to stock.

So you're predicting that the automotive geeks, nerds and dweebs are going to take over?! What a crying shame that would be; returning a performance car back to its as delivered, overly neutered state is the antithesis of sports-car-ism!

The funny thing about that prediction is that the people I'm familiar with, that bought 930s in relatively stock trim and then slowly dipped their toes in the modifications pool (after fretting over "ohhhhh the rising values"), always comment along the lines of "why did I wait so long - much better car now". :)

I disagree. For starters there are many more 930 wheels than 930s, both because of crashed dead cars and because for many years they were a readily available aftermarket dealer purchased item.

Far fewer sets of genuine RuF Speedlines were made and sold. And they've always been held in high regard and desireable. They are seen as a period correct high end upgrade. I don't see their value tanking.

at 7.5kg for 9's, Fuchs wheels are the ultimate performance mod. :)

I like both wheels btw., and also Speedlines are period correct for many 930's

One thing that may have been overlooked is that the widths you gave for the Speedlines are for anarrow body Carrera and not a 930. Still worth a fair bit but the 9" and 10" speedlines may be a bit more.
