996TT DME report opinion

Looking at a 2003 996 Turbo.
71k miles

Now for the concern, DME:

Range 1
# of ignitions: 22228 2272.4h

Range 2
# of ignitions: 462 2214.5h

Operating Hours
2290

Needs new front brake rotors and the wing motors will need replacing.

I can get it for low 30's but this car has been tracked, pushed, and abused (I am assuming). Should I run or roll the dice?

Does it have a tune. With the rev limit raised?
That would explain things.

pushed and abused, maybe. Tracked, normally you see a lot of nosebleed mods, like the ****ing scrotch harness that everybody seems to think is a must have. And welded coolant lines.

Greek to me.

Worry more about the knock you described on Rennlist. I'd pass based on that, not the DME.

The DME over rev report shows when the engine's RPMs went above a hard-encoded number in the computer. If the car's rev limit was raised, common in many aftermarket tunes, a simple and safe redline run can show up as over revs in the lower ranges.

Ahhh, thank you.

I think the price is right as you're not going to find one less expensive than that.

Range 3 and 4 are a better indicator. Does it only have first two ranges on this model?
