Not that Hagerty's values are THE reference point but worth a look. '89 911 in good condition they have valued around $43,000. $80k for concourse condition. Deduct for Hagerty's high valuations and 121k miles... and assuming car is in good condition with no need to rebuild engine or trans... $35.7k seems reasonable for someone interested in the car.

I think a good feeler is BAT. I've been watching all 911's that go thru there, and they seem to be on point for what the market is to bear.

I love the BAT auctions For some reason the prices seem realistic. Hey, they might be real auctions.
![]() I've given up on the big auctions. There are just too many games being played with those large auction houses. Hagertey is better but not perfect. I think that if you follow BAT and Hagerty you'll be close to real. Richard Newon Compressed Air for Your Garage |

I agree that for you guys BAT is a good price reference. The auctions are real and teh bidders mostly knowledgable.
Also -bar 1 or 2- no real exceptional vehicles show up with delivery miles and only 1 lady owner for 80 years. So the spread is also not skewed as a result of such vehicles. A 81 SC just sold at autcion last week for 53k€ (plus buyer premium). This was a real sale. The car was in very good excellent condition but no garage queen.

I have State Farm as well. How many miles on your 911 if I may ask. PM me if you would prefer. Thanks, I just turned 170K and they will discount on miles I'm sure.

Last year I paid $785 with Hagerty for $35K agreed upon value for my '87. Car has 138,000 miles on it. It would have been even higher if I had kept the roadside assistance.
Granted, I live in the city, but still... Oh, and I'm 43 years old, not 21.

WRX - Yes, you are getting screwed. With American Collectors Cars, I pay less than that for my 73.5 Targa and 1960 Mercedes 190SL......Combined value of $120,000

Checked out the cars listed in the auction.
912: 36K miles. Ha, yeah maybe the speedo says so. 928: Looks nice, but the new owner will get a surprise if he expects a 100% original car. This insanity will end soon, imo. Last edited by christiandk; 10-12-2016 at 09:32 AM.. |

Insurance, you get what you pay for. Also, the older the car, the older the owner, the less the driving. Esp, if retired. I bet that a '73 and '60 combined get driven less than an '87. WRX may be daily driving an '87 to the office. WRX, I am paying $600/yr via Hagerty and they have an excellent payout reputation. $50 for roadship so $650 a year. Very happy.

190SLs are $50k/$60k cars? I thought they cost a lot more than that

This is the first I've heard a negative about haggerty claims. Can you elaborate?

its a long story and not that interesting.
I'll summarize. I have a one year car - not a Porker - with some very hard to find (and relatively expensive) parts. It was totally rebuilt as a street rod. Tube frame, LS, blah blah. Six figures and four years in the build. Despite providing all the receipts to the builder they covered it for $65k. Turned it over to test something in the garage, but I'd stupidly left it in gear - the handbrake needed adjusting - and it ran into the cabinets on the starter motor. Ruined one of the one year pieces - the grille - and did a little bodywork damage. I'd had the car like a month. Not a good day. I was supposed to get help to find replacements for the damaged parts plus the cost to fix the damage minus the deductible. I shipped the car back to Texas to the builder to fix. Repair cost was $3500. Parts were another $1500. I couldn't find the unobtanium piece so it was repaired. It's not perfect, but it'll have to do. I got no help and a check for $800. Then at the next renewal they dropped me. Said it was because my wife - who never drove the car - had had an accident in her VW. F. Hagerty. Last edited by Alan A; 10-12-2016 at 05:35 PM.. |
