74 doesn't pull enough value for someone to rebuild a chassis, they are better off going and buying a complete car. The exception will be "right place right time" like a repair situation. Price it at several thousand but be patient.
You may have a coupe which would be advantageous in my opinion, I however have a targa. In fact earlier this year I had three targas to unload, stripped 74 chassis, roller 78, and a very complete minus eng/trans 1985. I'm in Canada but converted to US dollars I was asking $2000, $6000, $9500. I received zero interest. The 78 ended up going to a friend for 2200, the 85 ended up getting sold complete with drivetrain as I located an alternate drivetrain for my project, and the 74 remained behind but there was a pelicanite needing a donor torsion tube so I made a deal for 1500 for the tub, but since it still had doors and front suspension I pulled those parts and sold them, but then the dude never came through with buying the chassis! Sheesh. I finally just sold it last week after scrounging basic components to make it a roller, for a grand total of $2300. woohoo. The deal actually includes a door, fenders and some other bits. Hardly worth my time spent on the 74 tub but I need the space for my other debris (addiction?) and really wanted the chassis to find a worthy home. It was only a couple years ago a friend loaded several crappy long hood chassis on a wrecker headed to be crushed, I try to avoid thinking about this. |
