What is a reasonable price to pay for these parts?
Can somebody list some ball park prices that these parts are worth? All parts are for a Porsche 2.7 engine.
1977 Porsche 2.7 short block supposedly rebuilt with time certs Airbox for same 2.7 engine Engine tins 1 set of RS/Euro pistons with pins for 2.7 engine 1 set of cylinder heads from same 1977 Porsche 2.7 (they need rebuilt) 2 Solex cams that are new regrinds 1 pair cam towers with rockers and shafts 1 green engine shroud with wiring 5 blade fan with shroud Complete set of engine tins Its difficult to find out what the parts are worth since everybody keeps deleting the prices in their for sale ads. I have never seen that before until watching this site. Last edited by Diggem; 11-01-2016 at 09:57 AM.. |

One good way to gauge parts' values is by looking at eBay "sold listings" for the specific components.

Are they new pistons?
If not I wouldn't pay more than $800 to $1k. The five-blade fan is worthless, the heads are plentiful, the cases even in this market are not that sought after. Five years ago you couldn't give these parts away. If its a new piston set to go with the case that would change it. The airbox isn't worth much, nor are the other parts (shroud, fan as I said, the chain housings, etc). At the end of the day it's still a 2.7 that needs complete assembly and finishing which is still big $$$. Depends on what you want to do with it. If you're selling put it out there to see what offers you get (and set the price a little higher). I wouldn't expect much unless it has new pistons. The case can be set up for not that much money - I would check on current labor prices from reputable Porsche machine shops and then add that to the case. Plus nowadays people are getting funny about 'numbers matching' even on mid-year cars, so there you go. |

That's a 7R case and it has been many years since people just gave those away. The case is $1509-2000. The other stuff isn't worth much. You can still buy those p&c from
Ebsracing and other sources. Check current new and cut that in half.

The pistons are not new. They are used Mahl pistons but look to be in good shape.
Would you guys say ALL these parts together are worth about a total of $1500-2000? Last edited by Diggem; 11-02-2016 at 07:44 AM.. |

2-3 times that. A 7r case that's already addressed? RS P&Cs? Solex regrinds? You've got a nice little hot rod engine ready for assembly.

2-3 times meaning $3000 to $6000? I don't see it in those pieces, and I don't see it in the 7R case. A lot of motors came with a 7R case, and getting one prepped isn't crazy. For what parts have been going for I don't think he's going to get $3K to $6K for those parts. Best of luck though.
