And it’ll have way more to do with their own life experiences (read tax bracket and/or wealth, or lack of it), than the actual object itself the term “cheap” is used to describe.

No doubt about that. I bought my 1987 in 2006 for about $32K (had low miles, under 70K, and was stock at the time, except for an aftermarket muffler and CAT removed) - that was expensive enough for me to need to take a simple, signature loan to pay for it (paid about 1/3 up front, and then paid the balance in 1/3 the time frame the loan was for). To my measly income, that was fookin' expensive, and the prices from the recent past, and even now, put me out of ownership if I didn't already have one. I'm not crying about that, however, as I am my own boss, work when and if I want to, etc., and that is pretty sweet.

I guess “low” is another relative word, cause I wouldn’t call an ‘87 930 in 2006 with under 70k miles - low miles. I wouldn’t even refer to a 70k mile turbo today as low miles, but what do I know. Maybe I need to drive mine more often. :D

Rawknees'Turbo 12-18-2019 06:17 PM

^^^

Ha ha, great point. I guess I considered that low because the car is old and has less than 100K miles. Not to mention that compared to my two other vehicles, which have 230K and 215K miles on them, that 70 is a real low number! :D

But maybe the whole low miles deal is similar to the, "change your oil at 3K miles" sham that many still abide by (despite oil analysis data that says otherwise) - it's considered good because somebody did a good job of convincing others that it is.

JMS935 12-18-2019 06:35 PM

Well at least they’re all boosted miles. That would be a lot of sh|tty miles to log without having the mighty hammer to lay down when you wanted to! :p

Rawknees'Turbo 12-18-2019 06:49 PM

Ha ha, exactly! I feel bad for our n/a 911 brethren; those chowederheads don't know what they're missing, while visceraling around in their non-blown (), vintage rides!!!

Those poor saps riding around in their skinny 911s without any boost. What a shame. My first Porsche was a normally aspirated POS, and I drove it all the way home to Chicago from Virginia Beach. By the time I got it home, I already knew I was getting rid of it for the real deal. What a waste of time and money it was.

Get boosted or go busted trying...;)

Rawknees'Turbo 12-18-2019 09:19 PM

I am certain that deep down, every single one of those naturally aspirated 911 bisches wishes (see the sweet rhyme I dropped there!) to be able to go, "Ohhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit", every time they open the throttle (even just part way!), and that their 911s were sporting a real, bodacious tookus! All of the talk about, "It's not about the speed, but the connectedness to the road, the sounds, the smell, the historic historicity of the vintage motoring experience", is just code for, "dayuuuuuummmmnnnn, I wish this fuuuckin dinosaur machine had 300+ horsepowwwaaaahhhhh and torque, and a big ol' phat azz, too"!

Rawknees'Turbo 12-19-2019 04:39 PM

After nearly a page of ***turbo buttmunch trolling*** I can't believe that not a single one of the n/a majority even suggested that JM and I need to get a room. You non-boosted bisches aren't any fun!!!

Kinda strange for sure, they normally shut us down fairly quickly. Maybe we’re just N/A (pun intended) to them anymore. :p

Perhaps everyone just got sick of the gay jokes.
Kinda like last time.

I don’t recall any either, maybe he’s thinking about two other turbo freaks poking fun of the slow and skinny group.

You are right. This opened to the forum buttmunching post right after I’d spent a few minutes of quality time in PARF seeing who was put in timeout for name calling and reading some of the prose therein, and conflated the whole experience. Mea culpa.

Never been a fan of the super wide hips, but you've got to have a bit of curve. ST flares have always been my style.

No prob, Alan.

I really enjoy PARF, but have not been able to participate, or even view, that subforum for over a year; was put out of there as punishment (deserved) for excessive shiit slinging, and then the moderator that did the paddling quit his Pelican duties, so my short term spanking has turned out to be indefinite.
