What is the most desirable 911sc?

So what is it?
83 Cabriolet? Wide Body non-turbo? Sunroof delete coupe? Odd color stock 911? Imported euro car?
1978 with larger intake?
Just curious.

I would say a 1983 non-sunroof coupe. I never see them.

However, if I had the chance I would get a '83 cab (though I don't really like cabs), but a first-year 911 cab is pretty sweet. I am sure they will only go up.

Amen to this one. I always think it's pretty one-sided when SCs never, ever get bashed for the head stud issue - divilar et al - when middies always, always get (or got) bashed for the 2.7. Headstuds are still a big deal to someone who isn't mechanically inclined, and tricky for someone who is, and it never seemed to come up with SC people. People on the 3.0 - 'Oh, those are 300,000 motors.' Yeah, when the headstuds aren't broken.

Ha! Awesome rant!

The most desirable SC for me is a '78 ROW, non-sunroof coupe with bright trimwork, a unique color, red guts, and wide Fuchs. Oh yeah, and good headstuds.

Just curious. Why 78 over the 83 with the sought after 204hp motor? Slightly lighter weight due to it being older? Lower compression for turbo?

You've seen the video?!?!

On a serious note, yep, the Porsche factory really blew () it with head studs and electrical best (worst) practices - around 20 years of stupidity on both fronts!

Color-wise, I'd take Talbot Yellow or Cashmere Beige

I would choose the '78 for the lighter weight and it having a better chance of having the aforementioned bright trimwork.

However, a clean '83 Cab would be my 2nd choice for a SC...

911 sc

U.S. versions, my 3 picks:

#1: '78/'79 coupe with interesting paint (Arrow Blue, Continental Orange, etc.).
#2: '83 Cabriolet in any color but red (they all seem to be red).
#3: Any clean '80 to '83 coupe with interesting paint/interior.

Sport seats, non-sunroof and low options (manual windows, etc) a plus.

Early U.S. SC's have a higher flow fuel distributor, large port heads, and they usually weigh less than later versions. Road tests from the era confirm their performance - they offer near 3.2 Carrera performance (0-60 mph in sub 6.0 sec., QM near 100 mph). They also had less standard equipment (less weight) and were offered in more interesting colors and most had bright trim.
