Price is high for a modified car with 186k miles. Looks like the guy dumped a bunch of money into building his dream car and now he wants to sell as-is for what he has into it. To get that money it should be stock, with a lot less miles.

Looks and reads nice, but unless you want exactly that car with exactly those modifications I'd look for one with a better price. Shoot, even if you want that exact car - you're still overpaying.

Not insane..... sport seats are valuable...... I think analyzing records and a PPI would be important.....

High Mileage Carreras alone are worth $30,000.......

I just can't get into "tribute" cars that are half-assed. Duck tails, Carrera scripts, polished Fuchs coupled with impact bumpers look mix-matched and ugly to me.

Lots of nice cars to be had for 50K...... that's not going to sell for that kind of money anytime soon.

Not commenting on the price but thanks to the 2012 thread I do recall it was a very nice car...

Agreed. Tribute, to me is synonymous with replica.
"Backdated" as well - replicating what a '74 Carrera looks like.
This is a modified Carrera. Shouldn't use those words.

edit - oops.. I don't think the car is ugly (tint aside), but the ads both have incorrect lingo.

You would think so now itza but at that time that was around top dollar. An basic carrera with under 100k was going for 10k to 15k. This car also has a rebuilt motor and trans and nice paint. I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell for 40k or more now.

That's nothing. I learned from the good folks here that like 10 years ago you couldn't give away longhoods for free. Like 67Ss for 10k. Ts in the low four digits.

Funny in 2011 right after I bought my 911 I took it to a small car show. The only other Porsche at the show was a 356 owned by an older Gentleman. Said he didn't use it much and would I want to buy it. Price was 4K. Nope I didn't buy it. Had I only known.

Looks like a fun car to drive. If the engine is real healthy I think $40k would be fair. Lots of money into that stereo if that is your thing. As stated...throwing a duck tail and Carrera Script of a 80's Carrera doesn't make it a RS Tribute.

The current seller has run that car for months on eBay. They first started at something like $75k IIRC. Over the last few months they have slashed the price down to about $50k.

The seller also does not know a whole lot about the car. Who knows when those photos were shot?

The car had 183 on it when it sold here in 2012 now showing 186

The Pelican member who sold it here a few years ago is still active. He sells a lot of very nice cars, you might ask him for more info.
PSportoVeloce

Here is some more info on it http://www.themotoringenthusiast.com/cars/featured/bali-carrera

I remember when the car was on Pelican, IIRC there is a build thread on it?

Its a little more than a duck and some stickers. The pre 85 sports seats, the early front valance with no fogs. But in the end you guys are right. Its a G50 Coupe with some light mods and a duck. Rear bumper is not a 964 as the listing says, its an 87 bumper with the warts removed.

IMO its not a $50k car. As specialty said, if the motor is sound its a $40k car.

I think it could be a 49k ask if the car started that way. Shooting for the moon and slashing makes the ad go cold/ stale product. Looks like a solid high mileage car. Should sell in mid 40's but time of year isn't ideal either.
