Why I hate traveling in winter
As a rule I try to not hook up the trailer and hit the road this time of year, the east coast is just too predictable with snow. But when you get the call, you make it happen, so I white-knuckled it through the PA mountains. The arrival time of 3:56 on the GPS was a nice touch though. Made it home in time for dinner, but it wasn't a fun trip.

I towed a new to me 03 996tt home last winter over hwy 80 from reno back to the bay area in an open trailer. thankfully it was my old racecar trailer with the tool box and tire rack still in place an extra set of wheels that came with the car provided shied the car some. I also used some 2'x4' pieces of plywood beyond the tires & rack and painter taped the entire front of the car prior to departure.
over did it with a sunny, windy day towing home while the road there looked much like you show in your pic. ![]() ![]() |
