My impression after being there last couple days is I have never seen so many no sales (many didn't sell, buyers are getting more narrow)......yes some outliers brought good money but the kinks showed in the armor! Lots of rough Porsches showed up, and estimates on feature cars were ridiculous as always, $250k on 996 GT3 RS? wowzers?

The Black / Red '82 was rough. Really rough.

I was just taking a closer look at the website photos and noticed two of the last pics give a partial view of the drivers seat. It's in bad shape. If the rest of the car is that worn the price makes a little more sense.

Why do people take improperly prepared cars to a premier auto auction expecting turds to bring garage queen prices?

This 81 930 one sold for $77,500 looks nice (from the pics) on the outside but the seats and door panels are wrong. 33,000 miles...if one can believe it.

In person it was painfully easy to see that the car had had some trauma to its left side. The shrunken filler work above where some one had grafted in a large portion of the left 1/4 panel was pretty ugly. And the door hinge post is tweaked to the point that the door / fender gap just inside the door mirror was so huge that, if skinny enough, you could enter the car through the left door without opening it.

Overall it was a mess. Well sold though!!

Was that $59k 356 a mess or did it look decent?

If it was there on Monday the 8th, I didn't see it.

The black Cabriolet was the only 356 I saw. On the top side it was nicer than a driver, but not going to impress anyone above and beyond a local PCA Concours.
The bottom side baffled me. The wheel wells and floorpan were bare metal. Like the bottom of the car had been media blasted the day before. Very strange...

If the new owner is happy with their purchase, that's all that matters...

I started this thread with the "Mecum not so bad" with the sale of the nice 86 930 for $165. Since then it looked like a train wreck in slow motion for most air cooled offerings, albeit many #3 & #4 cars but still way off where it was not too long ago. To me it looked like most bidders ( if real buyers for their personal use were not too enthused to spend much ) and sellers equally not too excited to sell for their offers. Arizona auctions next, any predictions if 77 930, or 78 -79 & 89 930s, for that matter, will still be around or under $100K?
