Mecum not so bad
 

1986 930 turbo Black / red interior gets $165K at Kissimmee.

Must have been an extremely nice car to get that kind of money.

The color combo might have contributed too, in addition to it being nice. Black on red is an acquired taste but guys who like it really like it (I know I do), and you get two together and they'd probably have to duke it out for that one.

It was a 5,900 mile car. Mecum was strong today across the board.

There were some bargains..... 72 Dino for $290K. Haven't see one under $300 in a while.

The obscenely low miles certainly helped too then and makes it hard to extrapolate to cars that have been driven.

Did anyone take a look at how the 356s fared at Mecum?

Beautiful car- I wish they were showing the service book in the photos- if that car was originally sold in Atlanta & the owner was William Dee I sold it to him.

Quite a few Porsche's going to the block today........ nice ones.... candidly Mecum has surprised me with their offerings across the board while dominated by American Muscle their auction has some thing for everyone.

Great place for a Pelican to look for a SC or Carrera .

Maybe the market has come to its senses that 930s/ Testarossa's are $100,000 plus cars.

These cars have had a ridiculous time breaking the $100,000 mark.

After all these cars were the superstar poster exotics of the 80s.

Seems like a good price to get for it but well below their estimate of $195-$225K. Where did they get that estimate from? Don't they use comps. to come up with an estimate?

Hagerty says #2 is $200K. #3 is $165K. Seems the buyer felt safe @ $165K plus $16.5 =$181.5K. For those low miles options & color etc.

Not a #3 car with the "special order Can-Can Red .. and features deviating black on the headliner, dash board and upper door sills." ;)

Strong price for an 86 in this market. Condition, mileage and color combination help this sale. Buying from an auction seems like an interesting option but I find that not much information is available at times. Some lack service history, paint work history, number of owners etc..etc. No road test. Sort of flying blind without additional information. Not for the faint of heart but may make for some good buys while others may be underwater. I wonder how the early 930's will fare in this market. This 82 930 sold for $47,000 with 58-59k miles

That looked like a price from many years ago. I'll bet many would like this car at that price, Gotta be there.

Yes. Great buy if not much is wrong with it. One can put some decent cash into it and make it near perfect and come out ahead.

Went to Mecum Kissimmee on Friday the 6th to sight see. I'd guess 75% of the air cooled cars (356, 914, 911, 912Edsel, 930, 964, 993) listed in the catalog were on site that day. The Black / Red '86 was in a class of one. No other air cooled Porsche present that day was in the same Galaxy from a quality perspective...

The Black / Red '82 was rough. Really rough.

See how the Arizona sales go. If they are similar, most 930s are definitely near the edge.
