2.0 911 engine values??
Hello 911 guys - I have a '68 2.0 911 long block removed running from a damaged sportomatic car in the late 70s and stored too long since for a project! I will list it on Ebay, here &maybe on CL but have no idea what its worth??
Dusty & greasy & No carbs or manifolds and 1 lower cam cover is missing, has the sporto pump and some sheet metal. Ports & passages were plugged when stored, turns over by hand so not stuck but bumps something likely a stuck valve. Eng. # are 901/13 and 2180320. Any ideas?? |

Those numbers don't match up to anything I have in my book. Not quite sure what you have there. My book doesn't list a 901/13 being produced until 1969. The engine number you gave doesn't correspond to anything from a 1968 in this book either. Your third digit is an 8 indicating 1968. My book does show 1968 911T engines beginning with the serial number 2080001 through 2081754 and those were 901/03 engines. You might double check those numbers again to confirm. Does anybody else have any input on this? It looks like a magnesium case which wouldn't have come into use until mid 1968.

Thanks Gearby - all the # were pretty clearly stamped except the first "1" in the 13 in the engine group so that may be the problem. I'll ck it again and maybe gt a pic of that.

The "1" refers to the motor being from a Sportomatic car. So you have a 68'T Sportomatic motor.
Unfortunately the motor isn't worth much. It's on early mag case which are the least desirable for a starting point. The heads have small valves so they aren't worth very much. The most valuable thing is the crank which as far as cranks go, (66mm stroke non counterweighted), are not highly desirable. As a core you might get $1000. I myself wouldn't pay more than $750. Maybe more in parts if they are verified good.
