What's my 911 worth? '89 Coupe

It's a Baltic Blue over Linen '89 coupe with 78,600 miles and I am the third owner.

I have all the original factory parts except the factory head unit. The modifications include a Prototipo, Continental head unit, a Monty muffler, an SW chip, and turbo tie rods. A new owner could probably turn it back to stock in two hours with hand tools.

The plugs, rotor cap, battery and alternator have all been replaced in the last two years. The valves were adjusted a few thousand miles ago. The Dunlop Direzzas have a few thousand miles on them and are basically new. All maintenance current. It's also an R134a convert that I plan to trouble shoot this spring as everything else works on the car as it came from the factory.

The main issues are the driver's seat has cracked along the bolster (pictured) and there are a few normal but barely noticeable rock chips on the front. I believe the car to be original paint and have all records for the last two owners going back 12 years.

It fires right up, drives straight, yadda yadda yadda like a new car.

I'm curious as I am considering selling it this spring. I've put 2000 miles on it in the past two years and I'm just not driving it very much anymore. I am not interested in offers right now, just curious as to its value. I am about to enter my extremely busy season at work so I cannot really coordinate a sale.

Edited - this was posted on CL NYC awhile back - post has recently expired. Hope one of the guys who contacted me about it, ended up with it.

Fwiw, there is a Venetian blue/linen late 80s coupe for sale in my area with similar miles. Seller is asking $39k and it's been sitting for a month. Very nice looking, well maintained car. Not many buyers in the winter months in the NE I guess.

Do you have service records to verify the mileage? Your driver's seat looks kind of high mileage. Either that or it baked in the sun at some point.

An 88 Targa with 76k black on cork just sold down here in Bmore for $32k. I was pretty bummed about missing that one.

i see the same cars sitting and most people who watch prices know they are coming down. you can ask anything you want!! people have become crazy with some prices and the cars are just sitting there. If the 1989 had a motor rebuild and all records i see somebody paying 40k. otherwise if you want to move car i believe 30-33k would selling. To me white interior is a big minus but that's me.

I do have records back 11 years and, beyond that, the Carfax is consistent with the mileage. The passenger and rear seats are like new. I think the first owner did not bother to clean or condition the driver's seat, hence the cracking.

For what it's worth, an '89 Targa with non-original miles in the same color and 202,000 miles sold for 35.5 today on BaT and it didn't even have the original wheels.

For what it's worth, here is a better angle on the seats. The only cracking in the leather is pictured in the first photo. They're in largely good shape which is why I didn't have them redone. Part of me likes the "patina" to them but I understand the trepidation with a white interior. It's a chore to keep clean and any creasing looks like the leather fracturing in garage lighting.

Don't listen to this guy ^

You have a Upper $40k car all day after reading your description. Maybe you could get a little more.... The 89's are on the up and up. Last of the G body etc...
You can easily get a leather guy to repair the cracks on the drivers seat for a couple hundred dollars.

Here's some recent comps from BAT.

Thanks for the input. This is where I had it pegged but wanted the consensus of the Pelican world. I can't always read the market and sometimes I think us owners will overvalue our own cars because, well, they're ours so I appreciate an independent view.

Agree...easily mid to upper 40's. Anything less would be giving it away. Nice looking car.

What helps selling the car is clean carfax and certificate of authenticity .

Dude, no need to ask anyone their opinion. Just cross reference your car with recently closed auctions and you'll be able to set a fair price.
