'87 G50 what's it worth
Is it me or are G50's somewhat thin on the ground in PP's classifieds lately?
I've owned an '87 coupe for 4 years, took it from 100 to 123k miles and did a comprehensive top end, clutch job in the process. Car has no needs. GP White on full red leather. Two owners before me. Definitely has some bumper paint flaws but its all original paint. The car is probably summed up as an extremely honest driver. Abraham Lincoln even. Have all manuals, tool kit, jack, spare. Have meticulous records from my ownership but not all that much prior. A/C and cruise control removed and included. Bone stock besides a cat bypass / Bursch muffler, originals included. Fuchs repainted by me, not a concourse job. I have a few project cars in the wings and a two car garage so it seems like time to pass her on. Not desperate to sell but also not trying to get rich. As the year of purchase will suggest, I'll end up ahead on this one. Thinking 40k - sound about right? I'm in CT where its coldish but not winterpocalypse. Any reason to wait til spring to sell? ![]()

I think you're right in the ballpark at 40k. I don't really see a reason to wait until Spring to sell. I don't think that the market will change that much in a couple of months - if someone wants it, they'll pull the trigger right away. Best of luck with the sale.

Looks very clean for the miles in the pictures provided. I've been researching 1984-1989 3.2 G-model cars over the past few years and assuming your car is actually a 'paint meter verified to be original'.. (hand painted cars which I've learned aren't always exact. another subject for another thread)...even with the miles, she could do 55-60K or so. Are all VIN stickers present on every panel? No non-sense cars are like hens teeth.... There is SO much junk out there it's insane.
EDIT: and someone else wants the car too! Last edited by Motorradrennen; 02-22-2017 at 05:04 PM.. |

I've been looking also. I agree you are in the "ball park". Only drawbacks I can see are that the a/c and cruise control were removed. Very pretty color combo, if I didn't already have two white cars I would seriously consider it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yes, wait another couple of months, we don't sell anything between Nov-April, it's the slowest time for moving cars. You can get upwards of 20% higher in the Spring, so wait at least a month. I've sold hundreds of Porsches, trust me, I know when to hold em and when to fold em.

Nobody pays big money for run of the mill P cars anymore. They made thousands, take 37.5 and call it a day.

$40K easy and there are a lot of folks who can afford that for a weekend driver.
Someone who really digs the interior will pay more. Last edited by pmax; 02-22-2017 at 07:30 PM.. |

I have two 88's that I am considering selling. The targa has 72k miles and the coupe has 63k miles. I have debated the same issue. I think I am going to put one or the other on the market next week. There is some seasonality in the markets but its not going to make a $40k car into a $50k car or even a $45k car in my opinion. The biggest difference is liquidity... there may be more buyers come April, I stress "may be more buyers". They're not going to chase the price up but you may have a quicker sale.
Nice looking car too.

I have an 88 targa. I would suggest 45k and work down from that price. The red interior is a big plus to some people.

My brother Matt bought a one owner 87 Carrera a few years back, you can read the nightmare story here.
https://www.pca.org/news/2016-07-19/barnfinding-one-owner-nightmare It all turned at well in the end but the journey to get there wasn't fun. ---Adam
