How to sell advice needed
I am getting ready to sell my 911s modified hot rod and need advice on how to screen out the tire kickers and looky-loos. Especially when they say "can I take it out for a spin around the block" My concern is that spin around the block could be an accident or ground gears. I have sold cars before and ok to give keys for short drive. But I don't want to hear grinding gears and then the words I am not interested.

First, state you would like verification of funds. I have never had a problem showing I can actually buy the car and bringing a substantial deposit.
Second, NEVER let them take off in your car without you. I always have done the initial drive to show the indiosyncrisies of my cars, then let them drive it with me in the car. MattR

Talk to the interested buyer over the phone for awhile and feel them out. If they aren't knowledgeable about P cars I would take it slow. Also, take the potential buyer out for a test drive 1st. If you feel comfortable after you showed them how to drive the car, hand over the keys (with you in the car at all times of course)

BATx3 you will get the most out of a 911 hot rod. Their community is pretty supportive of these cars.

As far as where to sell it, that's up to you based on you doing research on what platform works best for you. But there are a couple of rules to remember when you go to sell your car.
1. It's you car, your rules, and if the buyer doesn't like it, sell it to the next guy. You are selling a Porsche, so there is a long line of guys who want your car, it's not like selling a lawn mower where you have to seal the deal with the one guy who answered the ad. So if you aren't comfortable with anything a buyer wants, just say no, it's your car, your rules, a serious buyer will respect this and jump through your hoops to get the car, scammers and idiots will go away, which is what you want. 2. Do it on your own time frame, don't meet someone at 10PM to sell it, or skip your kid's birthday party, tell buyers when and where you will show it. Bottom line on all this is don't let anyone bulldog you into selling the car for any less than you want, or when you want, or how you want. But also remember that if someone is serious you have to respect that so if they want a PPI, let them, if they want to drive it, let them. Hope this helps. ---Adam

I managed a high line car dealership, and remember a sale guy taking a customer out in a BMW. THey went down a cul de sac road in an office park. The driver( customer) pulled out a pistol and told the salesman to get out. Bye Bye BMW.

BAT has a large knowledgeable audience of buyers. If your hot rod is very well done and has been completed 100% the car should sell well. Otherwise Bat does not seem to like project cars. Prepare yourself to be asked 100-150 questions from potential buyers and tire kickers. just stay positive and answer the questions to the best of your ability for a quick sale.

BAT x4 - it costs $250 for you, buyer pays BAT 5% of winning bid up to $5000
Great photo galleries are most supportive. Overcast days or photographed outside within the shade of a large building Detail clean it as if you were just invited to exhibit your car at a prestigious museum showroom. If your reserve is not met, you'll likely learn why from the commenting peanut gallery plus get a count on seriously interested buyers determined by their bidding strength. |

I'm a big fan of BAT and the people behind it have proven to be stand up guys, but the peanut gallery is very vocal at times, which can be annoying. I do this all day every day so it doesn't phase me, but to the average dude selling his car he might not have the same thick skin.
