I'd say so. Price is a little low. But maybe the price is where it should be.

A ROW car with US MPH speedo instead of KPH and no side marker lights on the fenders which means the front fenders at least have been painted. Looks like paint lines around the color code tag in the door jamb.

No sport seats, why would anybody want comfort seats in a turbo?

The interiors on both of my turbos look better than this supposed lower mile car.

A nice car would have done better, maybe some of the others will have a better showing.

To bad the fender lights are not there. For some reason I like the look.
The actual mileage is a concern for a collector.
I think this is a good buy at $85k for a driver. This car is not "collector car" quality. That is why it crossed the block during the week and not the weekend.

And comfort seats are great in an old Turbo. It's just a cruiser, not a race car.

85k was a good buy, it may have done better on the weekend.

I want to see what a real nice car can do, I had to have my 88 turbo appraised for the insurance company, 1st time for that. They recommend someone, nice guy, a professional and well qualified so I had him do it.

He rated it as number 1 car which surprised me.

Anybody have horror stories with State Farm? They gave me some really good rates on agreed value, double the amount of coverage for about the same money.

Anyway, I hope to see what happens, to those that know how, please post the results.

Thanks, turbo owner

I would love to understand the logic of the rating systems. A 64 mile bubble wrap car was rated as a 2- and sold for $396,000.

Seems Well bought: 1978 930 Bonhams

Not many porsches or especially 930s running at Amelia Island. The collectors are holding on to their cars until the market rises off this plateau. We can not get away from the fact that 2016 was a year of negative porsche market press. But in 7 to 10 years these prices will look like deals.

It's an average car, boring colors, no options, incorrect speedo, paint lines, Euro import, etc., etc., etc. And I gotta pay 10% premium for it? With the supply of cars out there this is fair market value.

Price reflects an almost new car and above a number 1 rating, 2- is a joke.

$44k for the 356 with the 912 engine seems like a great deal, no?

This statement bothered me all day. Mostly because how false it is. There is no purer 70s supercar/race car than the 930 right down to its very dna. Underneath is a homologated race car. This is something that can be said of no other road car.

The 930 is great and special but don't forget about the 924 Carrera GTS/GTRs of the late 70s/early 80s. Also the 924GTP that ran at LeMans in 1981 was really a prototype 944. Porsche was a special company back then. Production cars were developed on the track. These cars were so much better than their rivals. Today, there are so many good performance cars from other makes that the new Porsches just don't stand out like the old days.

Very odd that this car was sold as a 1978 RoW Turbo but has a repro U.S. 1978 VIN Decal. The 300 kph speedo was replaced with a 150 mph unit so the mileage is not original. Side markers did not appear until the 1981 model year so this car is correct without markers. Sport Seats were a very rare option for a 1978 RoW 930 with only about 20 percent fitted and only slightly more for U.S. 1978s. I would never rule out a 930 due to lack of sport seats but I do prefer sports to standard seats although sport seats are much heavier. This car may have been U.S. EPA/DOT converted and they removed this badge and replaced it with a repro U.S. VIN decal (would need to look for broom stick door braces, hacked out H4 wiring, emission equipment jury rigging, etc.).

Rich,
Great points! However, OUCH, that reproduction NA style VIN sticker is just wrong. While it has the correct 1978 part number, it's formatted in 1979 style. The NA 1978 VIN stickers were quite different than the 1979's. Wonder what other liberties were taken? Did anyone personally view this car?

Only if yer really fat, really old (like 100 or more), or really nerdy, Deez!

PS- Agreed about the cruiser, not racer bit . . . the only ones that are race cars belong to guys that had/have the balls to convert them and use them as such; the ones that are street legal, are cruisers, and the ones sitting parked in collectors' garages are not even cars any more.
