Pricing question
I have a 78 911sc that I have owned for almost 24 years. It is a great driving, very reliable car and in all that time has had only the alternator, starter and cv axles repaired/replaced.
Been a great car and I am only mildly tempted to sell. Always garaged and almost never driven in the rain ...Southern car always = no rust. s It a cloth seat non- sunroof car. Had a speedometer change before I owned it, I suspect because of the newer style. Mileage read 79,000 or so but is stated om the title to be inaccurate because of the speedo being uncertified. (In GA you dont need a title to register an older car though) Looks very good but not perfect, the paint is a bit worn here and there, and could use a pro to buff it out. In general what price range would this car bring? Since the car is still much loved I am not sure about this.. ![]()

I'd be worth a lot more without the tail and the Munchen (Munich) license plate...(If that's what it is)
It's an old soft shoe to you by now. Why sell? I say $38K on BaT - without stud issues. Are the studs good? You already have a VW Thing - that's enough. I had a '74 for four years - drove it silly. Loved that car. Sold it cheap in 1999 for my Series Rover. |

$35,000 to $45,000 depending on condition variation beyond your description. Mileage uncertainty will be a heavy ding against the price.

Don't sell that car; you will regret it later...
That being said, $35-40K MattR

I just purchased a 79sc coupe last week for 41K. East Coast
Car has 46K miles and everything works as it should. Garage kept.. Does have some minor paint issues, with sunroof and no tail FWIW I wanted the color combo and had missed several other cars in the past year. I'm happy! |

![]() I am probably hanging on to this hunk of metal, my wife says she will bury me in the car since I love it more than her. Not hardly. (She is in the photo at ATL Motorspeedway above- a very fun day that was for sure).. she loves it too...we've had many fun drives in 24 years. More to come!! thanks for the opinions. This has been the best investment besides my home.

Keep the tail. That's a factory porsche item and quite rare. If it was dealer installed then worth even more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The tail is staying. Its been on there for more than 30 years and draws a lot of attention. Its also in very nice shape. Gummi Pflege.

I also own a 78 coupe. Is that original paint? To me, that's a huge plus. Keep the tail. I hate them, but if it belongs it belongs.
Haven't heard about the maintenance, but if you took really good care of it and have some kind of records to prove it, that's important too. Haven't seen the engine or interior...so... 79k miles is hard to believe. We're talking 39 years old at this point and you switched out the speedo. Pedal rubber is replaceable. I'm not doubting your veracity, just pointing out what a savvy buyer might think. That said, the car looks great from here. I understand the 'not driving it very much' thing. I have a P car for sale right now for just that reason. But your car isn't costing you anything, it's not rusting, it's appreciating and you guys have history with it. Drive it more. Much more. That said, mine is a different animal than yours, but I wouldn't sell it for anything close to $40K. Yours should bring that or more if you can tell the story and prove the facts. GL Nick

Well said.
Vintage car ownership is not only about what you prefer. It's partly about preserving what was there before you. Many will disagree, of course.

Yeah right. That car would fly off the shelf at $30K. Give me 2 please.

I agree with Matt. Unless you need the money or space, a car like this at the ready will help you live a long and happy life!!
