Yeah- I'm sure that 74 won't last long. Seller probably has a lot of interest on it.

Matt Monson 07-12-2017 08:04 AM

That 74 is pretty.

Dmitry at Pelican Parts 07-12-2017 08:40 AM

Someone needs to jump on that 74' - that sounds like an incredible deal if there aren't any hidden issues.

Incredible deal? There aren't even any interior or undercarriage pictures. We know very little about the car to make such an assessment.

I called the guy at lunch. Got it from an uncle 2000 miles ago. Re-painted in original color. Didn't seem to know what he had but he was willing to renege on this already sold car for the right amount of money waving.

kc911s 07-12-2017 11:52 AM

Figured it would be sold. Says a lot about the seller- oh the joys of buying/selling on Craigslist.

kc911s 07-12-2017 12:32 PM

Hope someone on Pelican got it- would like to see more pictures.

[QUOTE=ItzaMe;9659170]Yup sounds about right. Just don't like the 996 front end. Would prefer the Cayman before a 996 and almost bought one last year but it slipped away.

PM'd the car looks sweet.

PM replied, it isn't too far from Matt,

While I will always say that the 911 is still the ultimate sports/hobby car (I do enjoy working on them as much as driving them) there is something to be said in buying a running car as the disparity between a project and a running car isn't what it used to be - sometimes there isn't much of a difference at all. I'd wait to buy a car that runs (at least a little) because time is valuable.

For me a Cayman has been very tempting because I honestly like the look(as I always tried to force myself to like a Boxster and it never worked) - and I am interested to see what Matt does with his.

To get an aircooled that needs work vs. maybe a running 2002 996 Carrera 4 it would be a hard decision for me right now - but like I said, I really do enjoy working on aircooled 911s as they are fun - but working on them isn't for everyone.

Very true. I'm in similar boat.

That 74 was nice but even If I bumped up my offer someone closer to him would have snagged it first.

I agree with you on that one. It would have been a lot of drama, and the dude would have gone with a higher bidder, and it would have been frustrating to say the least.

Buy a 996 Coupe 6spd with the IMS upgrade. A good maintained driver can be had around $20k. Best bang for the buck.

Keep a eye on this beat up SC on BAT to give you an idea where the bottom of the driver market is at...

Wouldn’t want one for free. What next, buy a Kia?

Matt Monson 01-25-2018 04:33 PM

https://cdn-4.motorsport.com/static/...nic-jonsso.jpgid drive it. Andy Lally drove the wheels off that car!

Alan A 01-25-2018 04:36 PM

I have a sneaking feeling you won’t get one of those off the lot.
