The best is Weidman wheels in Oroville CA. He's backed up a year I think. I've waited, and over the last 10 years have had 3 sets done by him, and they are literally flawless. We just showed a 67S at the Porsche Parade and got 298.6 (the wheels were perfect).

So your first set of pictures show pitting and blemishes that aren't ground/machined out, and then the last set shows pictures of pitting/blemishes that were removed by removing material.

What do you expect to be done for damaged areas?

Peter - AKA - Autoclub911 on here.
Quick turnaround, excellent work! If you're in the area, he's up in Orange County.

Just an FYI: welding on Fuchs wheels will show up when they are re-anodized. Preferred repair is removing material where safe

Which was what I was getting at - not sure what OP expects as a finished product.

Scour, search and network to find the best possible wheels BEFORE getting them restored may help.

Material can be removed with a much greater level of care and tapering to not be so obvious to the naked eye

A few years ago I had a poor experience with Al Reed (in the finish he used and how he handled the problem). I can't recommend him.

If those photographs above are indicative of Al's work - they look like nothing was done to the wheels and rattle canned black - they honestly don't look any better than something I can do on a Saturday.

I just got 2 sets of wheels back yesterday by a local restorer, not ready to name names yet. First set were chromed 14" date matched fuchs for a 914-6 that i wanted returned back to anodized and black factory finish. They came out horrible with weird blotches and "wet" spots in the anodizing and there were lots of prep scratches that didnt get properly polished out prior to anodizing. Second set 15" that i wanted in Comet gold faces with matte clear and anodized lip, think Weissach edition. I provided the color sample with the paint code printed on the back. Same issue with scratches in the anodized lip and gold was way off and it was glossy. Of course i was immediately met with that I'm too picky blah blah blah. At first he said he wasn't going to re-do them and he wasn't going t give them to me for free but then after a lengthy discussion he said he would attempt to re-do them. However i said slow down first, do you agree or even see what i'm complaining about? How are they going to come out any better? He finally acknowledged at least the blotchiness but persisted that the scratches were normal. Are they?

Anodizing is actually like a coating where there is a layer over the polished aluminum, the blotchiness may even be in between the polished aluminum and the anodize.
same with the scratches, those are from the aluminum not being polished properly prior to the anodizing
