Interior wood trim

As i research this topic i see its a very common issue. Some ofthe wood trim peices in my car are cracking. Does anyone know a diy receipe to correct the problem, or atleast minimise the issue. I have a 2001 996 turbo. The center console is the worst with separation and 2 cracks. I would liketo repair? Ratherthan replace. Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We have successfully, very carefully sanded down the cracked resin to the wood and recast with a casting resin. It's very labor intensive and easy to screw up

Hmmm. Seems very difficult. The trim i have in my car looks like it could even be plastic???? Its super thin around the center consule?? Ive seen replacement "kits" online, but the customer reviews are less than steller. Does anyone know some type of adhesive thatmight possibly do the trick? Thanks
