924S special Edition

This appears to be an Original Owner 88 924 Special Edition if anyone has interest in these unusual cars: https://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/d/1988-porsche-924s-excellent/6252043359.html

A Le Mans edition was made. 160 hp as all other 88's. But with funky stickers etc.

If I had the time I would like one. There are some days that I miss the old '77 924 (actually made in '76). I really enjoyed that car. To me a 924 is better than a 944. Sadly though, this 924 SE almost has the same HP as my '75 S.

In the 924 world, this is the 964 RSA.

It's the lightweight. Unlike the standard 924S, the SE has cloth interior, manual windows, no power steering, no sunroof, no passenger mirror, M030 suspensions with koni and stiffer springs. I thought they were A/C delete too, except this car looks to have A/C. And it has a power steering fluid reservoir too.

Maybe, like the RSA, the deleted items that made these cars special could be optioned on when new.

I enjoyed my old 924S for a couple years. I would never pay that for one.

Many years ago a Martini edition 924 won the Manhattan trophy. That car was perfect in every way. It sold a couple times for this kind of money. I didn't get it back then. I don't get it now.

Yep this is like a 924 club sport. Friend of mine had one and it was a blast to drive.

And yes, you could order back the A/C and almost every one I've seen had it added back.

If I had the room I'd have no problem with paying $8500 for a nice clean low mile 924S SE.

Yeah, both.
Really sad to see such arrogancy with regards to other Porsche models than 911.
I have two 911's and two 924's, it is always great pleasure to kick snobby (mostly newer) P-car owners ass when they encounter me and think "oh it's just a wannabe Porsche" and then gets their doors blown off.

Ronnie just looks arrogant dumba$$ when making such statements, both of my 924's would teach your 930 a good lesson how to behave.

I was at a Chicago PCA cars and coffee early this season. I thought the PCA social events chair said at the peak there were well over 100 cars there, maybe 120? Like any current PCA event, 2/3rds the cars there were new-ish cars one could see currently at any dealer, so not much interest in those.

Out of all those cars, there were two 924's, one completely cooked out and one above average car. Out of all those cars, including several tricked out 911/996/997/991 turbos, the "crowd" was around the better of the two 924's. I wish I could have gotten an aerial pic of it. There were a lot of "Whoa, haven't seen one of these in along time" overheard.

Later,
Wally

Had a '77 in college - loved it.

Also had a '80 Turbo in college - hated it.

I miss the '77 though. Never gave me any issues and was fun.

They all deserve the love, and all have good aspects. I personally like them, but wouldn't jump on one until I had a few other cars on the list.

You probably have no idea how ridiculous you sound right now. Ronnie bags on all the normally aspirated cars, especially the 4 bangers like 912s, and 924s and 944s. If they don't have a rear booster they aren't worthy to carry the Porsche name. And it's all in jest. He respects the engineering behind all of them and is just having a good time.

Beyond you not having a clue who you are coming down on, the actual content of your post is silly. I'll make a hypothetical parallel example. Let's say this is a thread about 1976 912es. And in comes Ronnie and says it's slower than a lawn mower. Then you reply about how he shouldn't hate impact bumper cars and that your 1976 Turbo Carrera will kick his arse. See what you did?

A 924, and even a 924S is a slow car. That's a FACT. And here you are defending the honor of those slow cars by showing off their turbo charged big brothers. And not stock ones either, but highly modified ones.. You're offended over NOTHING and throwing down the gauntlet to a guy who was just kiddind around.

***forum dating*** (in before Phatt, Deez, Christian, pNutz, Toby, Fred, etc.)

Ya', I didn't understand the offence or the 924 on roids comparison - ASSumed that my silly comment followed by multiple question and exclamation point marks would be seen as jackassery - but I know that sometimes asshatness is lost in text format (aka - there is not an arrogant bone about my person), and thus, left the gauntlet alone.

PS - turbo powaaaaa' or Fred Flintstone - no inbetweens !!!
