COA Authenticity?

Sorry for the double post, but couldnt get some photos to upload the first time...

Looking for some input on authenticity of COA for a new 911 I am looking at acquiring.

I have one from a previous porsche I owned and comparing there are a few discrepancies that have me questioning it a bit.

My COA - 73' 911 targa ordered in Jan 2016

The car's COA in question: 73' 911 coupe ordered in July of this year.

The 2 big things that catch my attention are the signatures at the bottom - signatures are different. Second is that the car in question noted matching numbers beside the engine number, not seen on the COA I have.

This was also brought up (noting matching numbers) by another pelican member and before I go and pay for something under the assumption it is matching numbers (of course will verify motor number when viewing in person) that this is not something that has been tampered with etc.

I did verify the vehicle VIN and Paint code match what the COA says...

Input is appreciated!

Thanks

You're worried because the CEO of PMNA changed?

more so that the one notes matching numbers beside the engine number. Is this something that is on some COA's and not others?

When I ordered it for my targa it was the matching numbers engine but the COA didn't note it. Another forum member had noted that seemed odd as well to see (matching numbers)

Anything to be concerned about?

They changed the policy within the last few months. Now they will only put a serial number on it for engine if you give them the number. The new notation is them verifying that the number provided matches their records as original to the car.

supposedly now you tell them the engine and trans number of the engine and trans in the car and will confirm if it matches what they have on the kardex. My guess is they won't tell you the numbers maybe to reduce the chance of someone stamping correct numbers on blank cases? who knows.

I agree, totally suspicious. Klaus Zellmer's signature doesn't look anything like Detlev Von Platens.

You might want to redact your personal info.

Krazy.

So it's changed from a 'source document' to a 'confirmation document.'

JUST GREAT! The days of trying to find the original engine or one with numbers close to it are over!

Yeah now it's a total pain. You can email them potential engine matches and they will confirm or deny if it is correct

Actually it always surprised me that Porsche would provide those numbers. I bought a birth certificate from Volkswagen for my 1964 Karmann Ghia years ago and they would not provide me with the engine number. They would only confirm if the number I gave them was correct. They said that it was due to privacy laws. I was irritated as hell at the time. Who else besides the owner really cares what engine a 50 year old Volkswagen came with?
