A rust bucket by any other name

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/973502-1970-t-one-single-documented-owner.html#post9771352

"Doesn't not have any rust in the usual places"

The old double negative that means it's a rust-bucket

"Some body work and paint "

surely this body requires a LOT of work

Yiekes, one hard brake and you have a car in 4 pieces! But it has the books and lots of documentation - no wrinkles or anything!

My guess would be it was stored in a damp basement garage, I've seen this kind of rust before.

Reminds me of a high-humidity, salt air/coastal type of rust. Most cars over 10 years old looked like this in Hawaii, including my first car out there back in the 90s.

Also some so Cal. cars. Rust from the air and not the road.

So basically the entire body sits covered in never-ending condensation because it rarely sees fresh air?

Sounds like it would be better for it to sit outside under a car cover.

Nope, most of our rust is the good old fashioned hell rust that plagues the early cars, especially 356's. The reason I know about this kind of rust from a damp basement is when we moved into our new house 7 years ago I parked the Roadster in the basement garage, and rust starting popping up. My solution was to run a de-humidifer 24/7, fixed the problem. But if you left a car in this kind of environment for several years, this is what you would see.
Now if you want a lesson in rust, we can walk the yard...

It looks like an English car .
I’ve restored much worse ...

The English mot test is MUCH more stringent than a simple smog , and includes bodywork .
The good news is , if you buy a new car you don’t have to mot it for 3 years .
I’ve seen fords need more work to get through their first MOT Test !!

The Manchester weather makes Adams yard look like a “quality used car” dealer lot
