Buying 993 Vert
Need advice on price, buying a 1997 993 Convertible, 250,xxx miles, black w/ black top and tan interior, manual. Car has been well loved by the drive, slight oil leak, various dents and dings. Any thoughts on price? Want to be fair with the guy.

That a lot of miles... Oil leaks are likely from valve covers and timing chain area, figure in about $2K to fix those properly, assume it is a manual and not a sliptronic, Hard to say without at least being pics but maybe $30-35K?

Seeing as you can buy decent cabs with 100k around low $40s I would say $20-$30k tops. If it needs paint and has no top end done, suspension, etc. you probably can't get it cheap enough.

250k is a lot of miles. I have 1995 with 96k miles on it. PM me if you are interested in buying.

I would say a #4 car would be worth $30-$35K but you have to deduct for that mileage. You have to. I know it's romantic to find a well-used, well-maintained high-mileage car that's almost a badge of honor now, but I wouldn't go that high seeing they are out there and it's a cab. Remember you are just paying the entrance fee - and it having dings and dents that were lovingly put there will need sorting and other things - and that's $$$. |

$35K for a 250K car? I think not, unless the engine has been rebuilt.

I love people who say like $20K tops - GTFO. The damn motor and transmission are worth that much...
