My rule of thumb for a PPI is $3000. Any car with a price over $3000, it gets a PPI, full stop. If it's under, it might be worth taking a risk on, but I consider it just that - a risk. I've been burned before, it sucks, but I learned my lesson really quickly (luckily on a sub-$3k car). $6700 on a 928 with no PPI is asking for trouble. A dishonest seller sucks (search my post history for my own dealings with one in Florida in particular) and should be outed IMO but that's not going to solve the problem of a lack of diligence on the part of the buyer, because on a car that cheap it's simply not worth the time and money to pursue.
