I thought Porsche used a paint blush with red paint and generally slathered it all over the door jambs and the VIN plate on all early 912s. See nothing wrong here, looks completely original to me.

It is no wonder it is hard to restore a car to original condition like this.

You also got to remember that the 912 was marketed for less than the 911, and was the entry level Porsche back then. They had to cut corners somewhere, and they didn't allow masking tape to be used on them in the paint booth. All the dough went into the engine.

There are so many clueless and sometimes outright dishonest buyers and sellers out there, it is no wonder people get mad after a transaction, and blame the other party as shown in a few recent threads here.
Hopefully this site here on Pelican and the information here helps people be a little more educated to avoid some of this turmoil. and very funny comments ![]() |

I hear there's some beautiful land for sale in Florida! Plus, a really nice bridge in Brooklyn.

you guys are too tough on people, he's not lying, that car is probably original paint. It's just that Earl Scheib painted OVER it (and all the trim...)

I have yet to buy a car that I didn't find hidden secrets.
I just deal with the issues and move on. Maybe it's the fact I buy and build what I want and am not concerned with making money or the value of my investment. I assume I will loose money on every car. It makes it easier to enjoy them.

One thing to find "hidden secrets" but this "has some touchups" is a bold face lie by the seller to buyer.
When I buy, I am interested in the seller almost as much as the car, if the seller is honest and tries to help me understand his ( 0r 'hers' to be PC) car I can really over look some issues and things that were just 'missed', but telling you anything you want to hear to make a sell sounds to much like modern politics ![]() |

One time I looked at a 911 that was painted Guards Red with silver door jambs. Dude still said it was original paint. I guess he wasn't lying - it was original - to him.

Are you saying people lie when they sell their cars?
OMG I have to totally re-think the whole pre owned market now.
