properly is very subjective lol. If they are charging even as low as $50/hr it will be north of $5000 if they do it "properly" and they account for their time and materials properly. I would venture to say that just the "gravel guard" time and materials is north of $500 alone

for a daily driver I might agree. if you're looking to get sporting an SC would be a better choice IMO.

I have not driven a lot of 3.2 carreras over the years, but after driving a two last year at this time while looking I was again somewhat disappointed. seemed fat, heavy leading to a feeling of it being under powered. I'm the only fat, underpowered thing I want in my car...

if California ever lightens up on smog requirements letting the earliest of SC & late middies become exempt I would expect an SC renaissance for the sporting crowd. dare I say outlaws???

I’m not sure what job your talking about cause I didn’t read every word in this thread, but I just did a suspension pan and I wouldn’t do it for a penny under $6500. Period.

Rule number one: never pay retail for anything.
Rule number two: trade for whatever you can.

I’m sure people pay $6500 for that repair. I’m not.

Well that’s fair when you say it like that. Btw there’s no real difference between wholesale & retail when you’re talking about 80-90% specialty labor and the rest materials. Oh and my estimate didn’t include parts lol

I had an 89 Targa that drove just like you describe. I hated it for the same reasons and sold it.
Then my son bought an 88 coupe, lightened it, tightened it, gave it all all around major going over and man, that car is one of my favorite drivers, ever!

The weight is the key. My 74 has 85 everything, engine, brakes suspension. But it’s a couple hundred lbs lighter than the 86. They drive so differently.

Interesting thread. Thought I'd piggy back on it and get some thoughts on the fair market value of my '74. I "might" be considering selling it.

Black over blue/black interior.
87k miles
'85 3.2 motor with Webers and approx. 45k miles
Original paint, no rust
AC
No sunroof
15x6 and 15x7 Fuchs
