93097004xx, question for you, and i'm being serious:

are you an enthusiast? do you actually drive your car? is it a constant source of motivation to get out of the house and sort of check out?

or is this just a financial exercise for you?

we're well aware that you are the ultimate champion for the 930 and it's corresponding market value.

i never hear you champion the satisfaction of driving that comes with ownership.

do you drive your car?...

News flash! Most old collector cars like Jaguars, MGs, Ferraris, Maseratis, Minis, old American iron, many old Porsches are impractical, unsafe, have awful road noise, take small tires, no cup holders, no third row, no electric seats, no body protection, fading paint, leaky engines and transmissions, parts that wear at an alarming rate, bad drum brakes, unsafe fuel tanks, leaky lines, smelly interiors, no airbags, no impact protection, and no latches for car seats! Most have been well used, which doesn’t make them rare, it makes them worn! That being said the feel, the sound, the smell, and the memories they evoke are outstanding! And most of us are dumb enough to own one and support the hobby! Why do we do this! Why do we put our wives and family and children at risk both physically and financially! Why! And why would we race such contraptions at high speeds! Because we are alive!

Well, that's all I have to say. It's got nothing to do with production numbers.

You forgot to add they handle like dump trucks, too.

Doesn't matter how many billions of people are on the planet, how many of them will WANT an air cooled 911? We buy these cars out of nostalgia and when we die or are too old to drive, the younger guys will have no memory of an air cooled 911. They will think of them as overpriced, under-performing, rusty junk that no one can repair anymore.

Not investment as I have thrown $40,000 to $50,000 in my 930 over that past 18 years.

Earlier this year..

I sent the 930 to a master porsche technician in the hopes of making everything mechanically in the 930 as new except engine as it was deemed in fine health only having 51,000 miles.

I told the technician who is a and was a certified as a master porsche technician and master bosch technician at the dealer level when my car was new. That I wanted my 930 to drive just as it would if it just rolled out of the showroom..

That was the stated goal of the entire project which took the better part of 3 months.

The total bill came to $24,000 but I was only charged for $20,000 as it was a agreement with a set amount..

So if I was in it for the money I wouldn’t do things like this...

He asked if you drive it and you post a story of spending a ton of money on it, and pictures of how pretty it looks. And the largest assortment of lawn care machines I've ever seen in a private home. I suspect your lawn and yard gets waxed as much as your car...

dwelle 12-14-2017 01:20 PM

what matt said.

seriously, though, simple question. do you drive your car?

in 18 years of ownership, how many miles have you put on your car? do you own any other 911's?

i am genuinely curious if you're a driving enthusiast. not all porsche owners are, and that's cool.

i ask because you espouse the notion that the 930's can go nowhere but up in value. you are absolute in your conviction. i'm just trying to better understand where you come from with regards to your relationship with your car....

1979-930 12-14-2017 01:31 PM

^^^ This should answer your question. A post from the Turbo forum where he was flamed for wanting to rebuild his engine with 51,000 miles on it.

One thing is certain demand for these cars will only increase. . . .

How can you, or anyone, be certain of this? Human beings are very fickle creatures.

That hinge needs to be repainted. I wouldn't pay more than $99,999 for this car. Plus it doesn't have the original steering wheel.

Well I do like how they assert they have the top %1 of the market so be prepared to pay for it.

Then in their article they state all 911s look the same..

Come on man. It was a facetious remark.

Did you even read the article?

[QUOTE=93097004xx;9696891]Seals were replace when the car was repainted that was 10 years ago and around 800 miles have been covered since.

Im sure at the age of all these cars the window seals should all be replaced.

You guys are not in the Christmas spirit - you knew the answer about the car not being driven but made made me read that stupid post about not washing a car.......http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat5.gif

It is driven the total for this year is 48 miles.

I’ve been lusting after a testarossa for some time and starting to realize I’m not getting any younger..

Now I realized that what I’d really like to find is a testa convert with flying mirror..

I’ll never sell the 930 and I lurk on fchat looking for the right car.. then I saw this and floored me.. I feel like I’m trying to sleep with other women when I look at testarossas I feel bad.. but how could you not lust after this redhead!!

Yes that was a let down I now have the reproduction round ones but need to have them installed.

Those are new leather door panels at a cost of $1000 +

I also save what ever I take off.

Good news for you the Testarossa market is declining faster than the 930s market. Nice hips on that Convertible.

Nice car on BAT but unfortunately for me I could never fit in one of those cars, I tried a few months back and it was one of the worst cars I have ever tried to fit in. Very 80's but also very unique.....for the right size guy (in height and weight...don't get excited Mr. knees:D)

The front wheels on the Testarossa look like they are too far back. I’m sure it’s a balance position. But it’s ugly. They need to be forward more.
