I have one comment that I learned in English 101 while at college:

A quote from the article:

Don't trust an overused exclamation mark. This has always served me well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

Im actually excited I can think about new cars (to me) again.

I have no problem with my "car portfolio" plummeting. As long as I can drive them.

Another air cooled hater.. a 150,000 cars over 15 years is 10,000 cars a year.

Porsche builds 300,000 cars a year now....

Not nearly that many exist today especially RoW.

Billions and billions and billions of people on this planet.

Supply demand these air cooled 911s will always be in high demand for as long as there are roads to drive them.

These financial analysts need to stay in finance and stay out of assessing the car hobby. Maybe their stocks would actually return like a air cooled Porsche!

No.. but I do take issue with his math.

150,000 cars over 15 years is a drop in the bucket compared to say corvette production over the same time span.

Let me say these cars were not produced in large numbers buy yesterday’s standards and definitely not by today’s.

It’s also worldwide production vs the corvette,mercedes,bmw that stateside production alone GREATLY outnumber the 911s worldwide production by a huge factor.

It’s your wild assertions that are really at issue. He’s probably party to more transactions per month than you will make in your life time. His involvement in the air cooled market is deep and he knows of what he speaks. You may disagree with his idea of relative volume but your lead and your close comments are just inflammatory bs.

We can agree to disagree.

One thing is certain demand for these cars will only increase. So to me the argument of 150,000 cars over 15 years only strengthens the reason why these cars are and will be much sought after.

I procrastinated on reading this because I expected a long article.
That was spot on top to bottom.

930XX you focused on the facts in one sentence and missed the meaning of it and the correctness of the entire article.

Nothing is certain and with fewer and fewer urban dwellers having any interest in things automotive I seriously doubt your opinion is correct.

Absolutely nothing new in that article.

Great article..especially from someone who is in the business. Most sellers would try and tell you they have gold in their wheels. He basically stated a strong opinion that may be factual due to what they are seeing as classic car reseller. Some may not like it but the truth is the market is not where it was a couple of years ago. Very low mileage special cars will still command a premium but most of those have been scooped up by collectors. I'm sure some still exist in the wild and may come up for sale every now and then but they too might sit around before someone steps up and forks over a huge sum.

At the end of the day the 150,000 car production makes little, if any real world sense to any investor or collector or anyone wanting one of these cars.

I remember not too long ago when people would say they made almost 80,000 356s over a time span from 1948-1966. People would say they weren't rare, they weren't valuable, and they would never be worth much as an investment because they made too many.

It's a load of BS.

I wouldn't call it much as an article !! as it's a blog entry!!

Sorry about the exclamations - but they do have some nice cars, and have had some nice cars.

Well I do like how they assert they have the top %1 of the market so be prepared to pay for it.

Then in their article they state all 911s look the same..

....so this is what I would come up with if I was writing my own blog, which in sense I am!

News flash! Most old collector cars like Jaguars, MGs, Ferraris, Maseratis, Minis, old American iron, many old Porsches are impractical, unsafe, have awful road noise, take small tires, no cup holders, no third row, no electric seats, no body protection, fading paint, leaky engines and transmissions, parts that wear at an alarming rate, bad drum brakes, unsafe fuel tanks, leaky lines, smelly interiors, no airbags, no impact protection, and no latches for car seats! Most have been well used, which doesn’t make them rare, it makes them worn! That being said the feel, the sound, the smell, and the memories they evoke are outstanding! And most of us are dumb enough to own one and support the hobby! Why do we do this! Why do we put our wives and family and children at risk both physically and financially! Why! And why would we race such contraptions at high speeds! Because we are alive!

Well, that's all I have to say. It's got nothing to do with production numbers.
