Advice on Price 1992 Carrera 4
Good day to all,
This is my first post as a new member, so I hope I am not screwing it up too badly. I am in need of some advice on the potential purchase of a Porsche. Here is what I know about the vehicle. 1992 Porsche Carrera 4 All Wheel Drive Manual Transmission Sunroof 25,000 miles In dry storage for last 10-15 years Not currently running Purchase as-is but trust owner that it was running fine when stored Looking at around $30,000 USD. Is this a fair price? Are there any known issues with the AWD system or electronics? Will it need major work to get it running? I am thinking mostly of dried up gasoline but maybe there are other issues? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. I have never owned a Porsche but have lusted after the 911 series for most of my life. |

Probably easy to get it running, then the fun starts. If it’s been sitting for that long, just plan on spending about $20k to get it “right”.
If you pass on it, pls PM me the seller info, I’d probably buy it depending on the color combo. Last edited by LorenzoH; 12-23-2017 at 12:54 PM.. |

Fifteen years in storage means:
1) New Tires - $1000 2) Brake system flush/lines/master? - $500 3) Fuel System - $1500-$3000 4) Distributor drive belt 5) Odds and Ends - Oil, belts, rest, misc - $300 Probably be $5K to get it safely running and then you go from there. They are incredibly complex - the 4wd system that is. If it's clean, it's probably worth that though. |

Having a low mileage 964 is worth the risk. Even if you put 15k to sort it.
A low mileage 964 will fetch 60-80 to the right buyer |

What color is it? There some big color premiums in the 964 market. I think it's worth $30k since low mileage 964 Coupes are very rare. Worth the risk.

If that car had clean cosmetics it wouldn't last a day on the trader at 30k even in its current state.
Unless there are some glaring red flags, a 25,000 mile 1992-1994 964 manual coupe is a hot car on the market right now. If it was in good running condition it could easily be worth double the asking price. Don't worry about the AWD system, they are solid. Run a carfax to verify miles and check for accident history. This is ridiculous. If the car exists just buy it at that price.

Just teasing a fellow Canadian. I wish he would tell us what happened though. The suspense is killing me.

Hi Everyone,
So sorry to go silent on this, but I encountered some difficulties. However it looks like I am the owner of this amazing vehicle. Being ever so cautious I won't celebrate until it is on its way home to me and that should happen soon if all goes well. I will try to post a picture here. Being a newbie, I don't know if it will work. This picture is of me with the car a few years ago when I first discovered it. Cheers and thanks again for all your feedback.
