It's so obvious but hilarious how the seller is dancing around.

TMU?

Not an acronym I’ve heard before.

Total Miles Unknown maybe?

We just said it was probably clocked and looked well dodgy where I’m from...

As I mentioned in the make me laugh thread I believe we previously discussed this exact same car because he changed the decals and increased the price when it wasn’t selling last year.

True Mileage Unknown

And apparently this car is rust free because it's a Southern California car........ even though I read in one of the earlier listings that it came from Michigan.......

This car would get slaughtered on BAT. I wish the owner would put it on there.
The sharks are circling.

Got it. I've just never seen an Administrator call out a seller in the classifieds before. Good for him.

Yes...... I believe this is the same seller who famously had a 73RS challenged and pulled from an auction minutes before it was to head to the block.

I'm all for what black is doing, but i thought pelican changed the cars for sale add rules so nobody could rip a seller's merchandise? seems to me like moderator privileges being abused.

if anyone could comment on an add knowing something about a car for sale would the community as a whole not be better off? it seems to me that if pelican trustees can comment on an add should the general membership not be offered the same privilege to inform the membership of a known lemon?

I'm not suggesting all out warfare again, but if a member was to take something to a moderator that he/she knew was a misrepresentation who determines if it's fact worth posting? i know this car has a history and is being scrutinized as it should be, but when could others be served by membership scrutiny of the next misrepresented car?

Are you saying if the moderator knows something relevant to this car's history that they should refrain from commenting???

If the seller wanted to prove his claim, he could pull a Carfax. Of course there may be a note that say there is odometer tampering.

I understand where you're coming from. Many years ago we disabled replies in the cars for sale forum, because half the listings would turn into bitter, insane conflicts between sellers and the "peanut gallery" of commentators. Lots of hurt feelings and pointless fights.

I never comment on cars for sale, with one exception: When there appears to be fraud, as in this case. Note that I am not accusing the seller of anything. He himself may have been misled. All I have done is point out previous ads in which the car had much higher mileage.

...and we're all better off because you did.

not necessary. I believe the point I was making was in the last paragraph of the post above. if you or I know of a questionable car for sale add posted here and are unable to share our knowledge on the car is the community better off?

I opened with what black is doing is great, but there has to be a way for the membership at large to inform our brothers & sisters of a misrepresented car. I'm not suggesting we get back into the shat slinging of days gone by over a specific sale, just saying that the service black provided on this car would be useful on any lemon we as participants may be aware of.
