i need your expertise for this 3.2

i need you help guyz. i really want to find a father / son project to build with my father. my last try for those who follow my build here was a disaster but i keep it for me even it will take a long time to finish it. i just sold one of my bmw because i would like to make the surprise to my father with a quick project we can do together (he is 70 years old)

i found this one

https://www.beverlyhillscarclub.com/1984-porsche-carrera-targa-c-7159.htm

it looks solid to me. i have already all the correct body parts (fenders bumpers headlight and wheels) missing here in France instead of the 993 front end, and i 'm able to paint it and do all the body work quickly. i don't need a perfect car, just a reliable 911 to enjoy every week end.
the main problem is the car doesnt runs and i have no information about the engine. does somebody know more about this car? does somebody see it? what is the cost of a 3.2 top end rebuild? they say me it is an easy project but...
any help will be really appreciated.

if this post is inapropriate or looks dumb, i can cancel it. thanks

No, no, no.

However, keep throwing them at us. You'll find a better project. Be patient. You'll find it. We'll help.

Here's a good project car. If you could get it for closer to $25k, it might be a great DIY car.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this car, considering the OP's situation:
1. He already has the parts and paint/body skills to undo the 993-look and bring it back to 3.2 look.
2. He is in France, so an international transaction involving shipping is a major part of the deal. I personally would feel safer dealing with BHCC than some guy in the boonies through Craigslist.
3. He is on somewhat of a timeline. His dad is 70 and I say if you can still enjoy anything at 70, don't wait, just do it.
The huge unknown is the engine. I don't know if BHCC will let him PPI the car, but it is a must.
True, there are better cars out there for sure, but not at this price-point, and if the engine is not toast, this may be a cheap way to get into a 3.2. Of course all his labor will be free.
To the OP, I would recommend you get in touch with Techweenie (he's in LA) to see if he can represent you or even find you another car.
Bonne chance Le Chimiste!

that is a great return!
i saw the red 77 turbo look but the problem is to pay the car and i don't want to give my trust another time. the good thing with bhcc is the easy payement and they can ship the car to france for a really competitive price. and it was the opportunity too to jump on a 3.2 which is exactly my father wish even if he knows nowadays they are really expensive.

i hear you and i will pass this one. thanks i was not sleeping since two days because of this one!
