High mileage 993 driver value???
I purchased a 993 with 220k miles on it this weekend. No known motor work, limited maintenance history. Details below.
Crack in the windshield driver seat bolster has a hole in it Driver door has been painted before but no accident damage found. Small dent in lower rocker in front of driver rear wheel Driver and passenger door checks click/clack when opening and closing Driver door hinge is worn and has about 1/8th inch play in the hinge. Not sure how I'm gonna fix THAT! I had a well worn '75 that did the same thing. Everything works!' No CEL or other issues New tires Shifts great No owners manual but does have tool kit Clean carfax Cold AC I know what I paid, and it may have been too much, but you don't see driver level 993s all that often. I put 650 miles on it just today. Below is a picture for reference. Any idea what cars of this level trade hands at? It is hard to find comparables so I thought I'd get some input from the peanut gallery. Probably just trying to make myself feel better. It looks great in the garage next to my 88 911. It is AWESOME to have cold AC, great power, AND it be in an aircooled 911!!!!! ![]()

Well, it *looks* nice in the pic. I haven't seen a 993 of any age or condition on the market for less than 30k in a while so if you're at or below that and willing to spend a bit tidying it up, I'd say you can enjoy it in peace! Those door check straps aren't a cheap/easy fix mind....

Whatever you paid, add $12K. If that's below $35-$40K, you did ok.

Thanks. I think we are all in the same ballpark. At this point I guess you add up the big part-out items, add a few more $$$, and that's the value.
Like somebody else mentioned nothing gets listed for less than $35k, but they all look to be nice.

You can buy a nice car with 115k miles for $35-40k. You can get a really nice car with 50-75k miles for $50k. No way this car is worth $35-40k.

If you'd like to assist future buyers of similar cars, you could always post the price you paid for this car as a "comparable".
And pirahna and Christian - NYNick was saying that a price between $23-$28K would be reasonable for this car. Not $35-$40. Very pretty car - congratulations bandito. Cheers d.

My point being that that car has or will have needs. It has no history and 220K miles. My guess is that with a $12K engine rebuild it would put it back up to $35-$40K, which would be a good deal for bandito. Now for my second nap of the day...zzzzzz.

These aren't Chevys. Colors and other options swing the price. Most important is the 'butt gauge.' I'd pay 10% more - maybe 15% more - for a car that feels tight and right. Not all Porsches do.
In the end, awdbandito has the car; not the regret of not pulling the trigger.

Thanks so much for everyone's input. I just bought the car on Sunday from the current owner of 4 years who put 100k miles on it. It was his only car and he was ready to move on to something else. Given several factors I believed the car was fairly reliable from an engine/trans standpoint. I paid $15k for it.
I did not have a ppi or even look at the car all that closely other than a short test drive and basic inspection. I thought the price was right so I jumped while I had the chance. I've driven it about 1200 miles over the past 2 days and have been in torrential rain, 100 degree heat, nice back roads and stop and go interstate travel. Mechanically the car seems OK, but all of the items I listed before need to be addressed. It also needs a full refresh of the suspension and after closer inspection the whole driver side of the car has been painted. It was a glass out job which is why I didn't notice it when I noticed the driver door. By the time I address the little things I'll probably have $22-$25k in the car. Or it could end up being the golden plated Porsche situation...... This car is well used but still has a lot of life in it. It's the $8-$10K SC from 5 years ago.

That seems like an amazing price for a 993. hell, if I had had that opportunity I would have taken it too, even knowing that I'd be spending another 5-10k to fix it up. Good score!

Thats an insane price. Dump another $10k into it and you'll have a great driver. Barring any significant mechanical issues that might rear their ugly heads at that mileage you will be well ahead of the game. Beautiful car and congrats on the great buy!

That's a good deal, even after doing the fixes. 1200 miles in 2 days is incredible! Enjoy the car and drive the wheels off it.
The hinge has 1/8" play? It could be he bushing, and our host carries that part for the 911. Not sure if it is the same part for the 993, but it is worth a look. Just checked and Pelican carries the hinges, pins, bushings and door checks for your car! It'll run about $200 for all new parts for both doors.

I didn't realize there were bushings in the hinges, but now that I look on Pelican it seems there are. I'll post a video of the play and get feedback. Thanks for the heads up WPOZZZ.
pmax, I did run the carfax and it is clean showing several owners but no accident history. I bought the car to drive for a while and enjoy the 993 experience. I LIKE IT so far! I'll post some additional photos but it is a bit more worn than the one pictures shows. I'll roll the miles on while doing some basic repairs and catching up on deferred issues. Who knows if I'll keep it long term or not but so far it's a blast.
