Over Spray everwhere
In Cars for Sale:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/995649-fs-1986-porsche-911-carrera-cabriolet-widebody.html I luv widebody's, but no fan of red. 2 Questions: 1) How can a body shop owner have this much overspray on his personal "Fun" car? 2) I've never seen a oil cooler in the rear and cooling lines running also to the front. Is this common at all?

Where is this "rear oil cooler" you're concerned about?

The overspray isn't that big of a deal to me because the rest of the underneath is corroded and a bit rusty looking. Though, I'm used to looking at dry southwest cars. Maybe this is the norm for wet parts of the country.
The overspray, of course, could have been avoided, but it's the least of all evils on this car. I think my main issue is that it has an identity crisis. Either go back to stock cab look or go slant nose. It's sorta stuck inbetween with the widebody, BBS, boxed rockers and fins on the rear flares. I don't see what you are talking about with the oil. Everything looks stock to me. That's the airbox up there, not an oil cooler. The engine does have an oil cooler on the back of it, as well as the lines that run up to the front passenger cooler. The extra hose is the AC, which btw is not working as evident in the removed ac compressor belt. No offense to the seller, but 58 seems high for non original car. I like that you get the slant nose fenders with it, but then you gotta paint them. I think this is more like a 40ish car but I'm not that up on Carrera pricing.

That’s not an oil cooler. That’s part of the AC.
As for the paint? Way I read it the body shop owner robbed the soantnose Parts. Doesn’t sound like it was his “keeper”. Just blasted it for resale and made it IB.

Very poor workmanship. There is paint on the right rear tire. How? The painter did not even bother to lift the car and remove the tire, let alone tape off the exhaust. Looks like a “I don’t give a *****, lets make it sell” job to me. I would walk unless the price is really good. I have a feeling you will be fixing many poor workmanship jobs.

Guess it's the AC.....My mistake...Don't see those up here in the rainy PNW.

The only thing good about that car are the seats and I'd take a sharpie to the piping...Is that a cut-down rear engine grill put in that front bumper?

I didn't see a rear oil cooler either however, FWIW a lot of years ago I bought an 86 factory turbo slope nose that was wrecked. It had an oil cooler in the right rear fender in front of the tire, which looked to be factory - I am guessing there was no room in the front fender with the slope nose for standard oil cooler .
