Price is lowered to $18,000
This is a very fine example of HP2 Sport models. Many references on Pelican, Rennlist, Ducati.ms, ebay. Deal with confidence. ______________________ lipamax |

A question here. Has this bike had the fuel pump, with its coupling fitting and related line, seals, and such.........replaced via BMW warrenty?? This is important. These bikes can start to leak gas.......and then really leak fuel out the left side from under the tank area and BMW wants these bikes brought in to a shop.......pronto, at once. Make sure to do this before you sell it. Go to the dealer........they will, or should know what I am talking about. With that few a miles........I sure hope everyone has been cranking it up at least, on a somewhat regular basis. Don't let'um sit up too long. Nice example for a collection if all is right. Do you have any extras, especially a seat or body work that goes with it?

Has this bike sold yet? I have interest in it but would need to know that the fuel pump recall has been done. You can simply call BMW, give them the VID number, and they will let you know if it has or not has.............. If you have time, please let the forum know that for the price asked, the warranty work has been done that involves the critical pump and related couplings of the fuel delivery system.......and which dealer completed the job. Thank you.

I have the same bike. Heard but the second recall but not the first. My shop told me that the cracked hubs result from people who do not own a torque wrench and don't understand the importance of properly torqued wheel lugs. Wondering what others have experienced with this recall and the fuel one as well.

Still Available & question about 30K rebuild
Hi,
I was wondering if this bike is still available? Also, I read somewhere that BMW recommends a rebuild of the HP2 at 30K miles. Is this true? Anybody? Thanks, Scott |

HP2 owners, and want-to-be owners............while its true that there have been recalls on the bike.......the recall you most want to pay attention to is about a leaking connection in the fuel line connectors as they go from the fuel pump to the actual injectors. I had this happen and it is zero fun. BMW had ALREADY sent me a notice to bring my bike in right away..........and of course, how could it possible apply to ME............but it did. Gas dripping out the left side, leathers getting wetter, my thought being that if I could keep up my speed enough till I got back to the shop, the wind would keep the gas fumes at bay. It worked.
On BMW's part, here is what they did. Upon getting to my shop I called BMW of Atlanta that very tuesday afternoon, they then called somewhere and relayed what had happen to HP@ #32, and I then get a call Wed mid-day telling me to bring the bike in at once, to which I replied, how right away, and they said to come Friday morning early because BMW was Express shipping the whole warranty packet to them overnight, or so they had been told on the phone. And guess what, they did. They replaced the fuel pump, seals, connectors, and injector O rings, cleaned the bike, test road it, helped me load it, gave me coffee the whole time, and charged me nothing on a already busy Friday. (now, thats a dealer) Other issues like the wheel are more obvious, but make sure that your 2008 or 9 bike gets this warranty work BEFORE you ride it anymore. Gas on leather is hard to put out quickly unless you land in a lake........................ Last edited by Dr. Curve; 01-15-2016 at 06:02 PM.. |

recall status
I had both recalls done on my 2010 a couple of weeks ago (VIN 70216) at MAX BMW. For the fuel recall, since mine showed no signs of failure, they installed a reinforcement band. The band is how the improved part comes through now.
For the hub recall, they replaced it. Wished I could have kept the original, but MAX tells me the original hub is not provided to customers as part of the recall. Not sure why that is. Wondering if the original hubs are sent back to BMW for analysis or wondering if BMW just wants as many of the original hubs as possible out of circulation. I am guessing the latter but does anyone know? I understand from a BMW Tech that the original hubs are fine unless you are an idiot and don't carefully torque wheel bolts per spec. The replacement hub is steel so one could argue that it is a downgrade to protect idiots with wrenches. I reluctantly decided to get the recall done in case I ever sell the bike and one of these threads gets started about my bike. Grin.
