The kits are cheap and easy to replace. It would suck to have a fire because of a leaking o-ring. Just replace them. I usually replace mine about once a year or so. That Is probibly way too often but...

The problem with getting new springs is the rear will still be soft. You need to get larger T-bar in the rear too.

I would skip the springs for now and try some 968 M030 swaybars. They are 30mm...

225s on an 8" wheel will fit fine. The problem is offset. I have seen much wider than 225 on the front with no issues. I would look for something with 44-52mm of offset, just to be shure.
