Porsche already thought of that, you need to find an extended hub steering wheel which was option code M018 for our cars. I bought one for my car and it’s wasn’t too hard to find one.

I would just epoxy paint them. In the past I’ve found powder coating not as durable as paint on such exposed parts as it is less flexible and more susceptible to chipping, ymmv.

The trans doesn’t have a separate cooler as such, it uses a finned hose instead. This is just an aftermarket cooler with regular hoses.

If you are planning on using a 944 for a high hp build my advice fwiw is start with a 1987 or later car. The earlier cars have too many weaknesses and flaws to make it a reliable car.

Boxster wheels will only fit your car with spacers as they are all the wrong offset for a 1986 944. You need wheels with ~23 offset, so nothing from a later Porsche will fit.
