I have the ignition lock housing removed. I am trying to remove the lock cylinder from the housing. The small brass screw has been removed that threads through the housing near near the key insert...

Ign Lock Cylinder

Is it possible to remove and replace the steering lock cylinder on a 1986 944 without pulling the steering wheel and stripping hardware from the steering column?

I experienced chaffed wiring. The wring from the sending unit up and across the engine and under the MAF. Wiring was chaffed in the area behind the ignition distributor.

If the temp lowers when you turn on the A/C...

If the temp lowers when you turn on the A/C indicates second radiator fan comes on. Fan relay or temp sensor in (upper left) of radiator is faulty.

On the 944 automatic transmission, after trans is contaminated with gear oil, the "Flat Governor" will begin to cause erratic shifting, slipping or no upshifts, at least that is my experience.

I agree with the post that gearbx fluid is bypassing into the transmission fluid. The best and remedy is a transaxle overhaul. I had have an overhaul done in 1997($1500.00)here in Atlanta, GA.
