Anyone Installed a New Ignition?

I've got a 1984 NA 944. Anyone put an MSD or Accel ignition (or something similar) on a 944? Is it worth the 200 or so bucks?

That sounds right. Porsche parts are expensive. I've got one that I bought for a 1984 944, but I ended up getting a new motor instead. I'l sell it for $150 assuming I can still find it in the garage.

Sounds like Renegade is the way to go. You can get the small block for $2000, another $2000 or so for their kit, and 40 - 60 hours labor. You get Chevy reliablity too.

Question Speedforce Racing Superchargers

I'm thinking of putting one of Speedforce Racing's superchargers on my 1984 NA 944. I restored the car and am kind of attached to it, so I don't want to sell it and buy a Turbo. Anyone have...

I lost all my oil pressure. Main bearings and even the upper end are gone. I think it would make a good boat anchor now. The motor is almost out of the car now, I just have to wrestle with the torque...

Need a 944 Motor

The motor broke on my 84 944 NA. I can part out the car or put in a new motor. A local shop here in St. Louis will sell me a used motor, no guarantee what shape it's in, for $950 and install it for...

Thanks for the pictures. I definitely have Valve A, which I guess would be right for an 84. I don't see two O-rings on either one. I wonder where that got started. I remember reading a how-to that...

This is interesting. My pressure relief valve came from Vertex and is indeed part no. 94410703511. It has the one green O-ring on the end. The two O-rings I got from Zim's were both listed as for the...

Thanks. Is it supposed to be really, really hard to put in? It goes in okay without the black O-ring, but with it not at all, even with lots of oil, pushing, and wiggling. I don't want to mess up my...

Question Oil Pressure Relief Valve O-rings

Well, I got the new improved $200 oil pressure relief valve for my 84 944. It came with one green O-ring on the end. From what I've read there should be two O-rings. I ordered both, and got another...

I'm not really thinking about a new motor yet. The thought cropped up because the one I've got is half out, it's 150,000+ miles, and I can get a guaranteed used one for $1000. At what point does a...

The condensor is pretty easy to replace once the system is discharged. I took off the spoiler and it didn't take too long after that.

Actually, I might as well. When I bought the car a year ago the odometer was broken at 33,000 miles, so I figure it's a 150,000+ miler. I've got it jacked up, the motor is supported from above, the...

Yeah, when we turn it over no oil squirts out either the oil filter fitting or the pressure relief valve hole. After reading everyone's input, I guess it's either the oil pickup, the pump gear, or...

Well, I took emery cloth to the plunger and shined it up, cleaned it, oiled it, put it back in, and torqued it to 33 lbs. Then I put the 3 foot breaker bar on the crank bolt and tightened it some...

Thanks. I already took it out. The 12" extension worked, but it was so tight I needed my impact driver to loosen it. Like I said, it looked like the assembly my old 68 VW had. How can something like...

Loss of Oil Pressure - 84 944

I lost the oil pressure in my 84 944. I figured I'd check the pressure relief valve. Paragon's Tech-Session had a blurb about it which was clear except mine has a 17mm bolt, not 22 or 24mm. So I took...
