Convertible top issues

Yesterday had my top down, parked and pressed the button and got a blinking light. I checked to see if I was in neutral then reset the brake. Pressed the button still a blinking light. I manually raised ant lowered the rear wing, tried the top and it worked. My question is;
1) Is there a sensor for the emergency brake that allows the top to open and close?
2) Could it be that the wing is not seating properly or needs lube (there was some squeaking during the manual movement)?
3) Is there a malfunction at the main sensor?

I am assuming that you are talking about some year NA 996?

1. depends on the year yes for pre 2002.

2.not sure about lube but top no move if wing is up or engine lid open. controlled by micro-switches.

3. Probably not, it looks like the wing wasn't sensed as down.

Yes it is a 2001 996 C4 , i found it strange that when i raised then lowered the wing the top worked. The reason i mentioned lube, i meant possible lube of wing components because as i stated i heard a squeaking sound while raising the wing. I just don't know if i should be looking at wing micro switch, emergency brake micro switch or something as simple as lubrication of wing components....thank you for your comments, any help is appreciated!!

Not the top...it's the rear wing!!

Well after some research I found it was not the top but the rear wing. I've noticed it all works but everything seems dry and there's some light resistance to movement. Replacement parts seem to be difficult to find. Any suggestions wound be appreciated

Shoot some lube into the small holes in the wing raising arms. I like pledge or equivalent wax. Also graphite lock lube, goes in wet then dries like the pledge. I also have mold release in a spray can that has worked for me. I think it is a high temp wax.
The gist of all of this is to lube it without leaving a film (oil) that will attract dirt that will exacerbate the problem down the road.

There are micro switches that might need to be reset/replaced, try lube first.
