1999 996 Interior Carbon cracking
I have a couple questions and help needed to fix my 1999 C4.
The car has the carbon package but the build sticker does not have the code listed. I believe it may have been added by the dealer as the L/R seat heater buttons were stuffed behind he batwing cover, which is missing the two holes. I assume this was case. Any ideas? The car's carbon package has cracking on almost every part except the gauge cluster which is not exposed to the sun. This is a black/black/black C4 so it must have been over baked in the sun. It was a 2 owner Texas/Colorado car. Has anyone found a reasonable option to repair/replace the carbon fiber interior parts. Not worth the many thousands to try and replace all the parts with some OEM like options I have seen. The $125 glue on films online without the plastic covering would most likely look terrible. I did remove the covering from the vents and they look somewhat OK. Last edited by Gianni at Pelican Parts; 07-21-2020 at 08:37 AM.. |

This is extremely common on 996 and some 997. On the 996, there was also a dash carbon piece which is usually always trashed. The only people I have seen that are able to get this somewhat decent is a carbon fiber repair shop. The old clear lacquer is also yellowed. My 997.2 also has some carbon lifting.
