Rotating engine by hand
How does one rotate the engine in a 996 by hand? I assume a socket on the alt nut and rotate clock wise. I want to scope the cylinders.

Rotate directly from the crank with long baker bar and clockwise.
I believet that at least on 996 C2/4 the airbox need to come out first. |

Use a 27mm socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt (not the alternator).
Rotate clockwise only (from the rear of the car). Remove spark plugs first to reduce resistance. Turn slowly by hand using a ratchet or breaker bar. This allows safe piston positioning to scope the cylinders. |

How did it go with the cylinder scoping?
Did you ever make it happen?
