FS: 86 944 Turbo (951) :(

I posted my 944 Turbo for sale a few months ago due to a coming new addition to my family coming August 2006.

I got quite a few responses with interest in my 951 but at the time I was really busy and could not post pics. I thought I would have more time for the car so I elected to keep my 951, unfortunately now I have to let her go. Short of getting a divorce or an unfortunate incodent (planned or not planned) to my wife (joking) the 951 has got to go......

Honestly, this is the last child we are going to have (our second) and I missed out on allot of my daughters younger years (she is 7) due to serious work loads to support our lifestyle. The lord above has answered my prayers and is sending me a son sometime in August 2006 and I want to spend time with him I missed with my daughter. I have just a few short years to train him to dislike chick flicks, say no to women (allot), teach him how to aim it good enough to not piss off his mom, and eventually teach him the greatness of owning a Porsche.

The car is listed on ebay with NO RESERVE, winner takes all.....check out the listing.....

Thanks

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo 110k Miles

Edit: P.S. Isn't it ironic the very car that attracts most women when your single is the very car they come to dislike when you get married?.......but then again....I had a 911 back then......lol....I think if it has a Porsche badge she doesn't like it....Hey, look at the bright side......at least she never asks to drive it....

Unless it is costing you a bunch of money in maintenance, why are you selling it? I have an '86. It costs very little to operate.

What is up with the rear suspension? I know you mention dropping it to match front ride height, but the tires shouldn't be canted as they are.

I'm selling the car for a few reasons....

1. Yes it is inexpensive to operate and maintain but I bought a new Lexus LX 470 for my wife and kids and it is not much of a gas saver.

2. With all the "baby" purchases I have been making I dont have the extra $4500 to get the body and paint done the way I would like to have it done. Baby furniture is way more expensive than I thought....

3. With all my recent baby spending I could use any extra cash for my retail car audio store.

Basically I'm just trying to make sure my @ss is covered and the extra money the car will sell for will help. Like I said I toiled over selling it or keeping it but the reality is I need to sell the car. I love my 944 Turbo but I'd rather take a loss on my investment now than try to hold on to it and loose more than a couple thousand bucks selling it on ebay.

Believe me I have learned after owning and selling more 911's than most local Used Porsche dealerships that unless your prepared to drive your investment out of the car that sometimes it is best to let it go before you put too much into the car that you will never recover when you try and sell it, rather than drive your money out of it.

As for the rear tires, I agree there is more negative camber than I anticipated there would be adjusting the torsion bars. Inspite of the "look" of the negative camber the car handles WAY better than it previously did. Also to note there is an adjustment bolt on the rear trailing arm that is adjusted in the lowest position. Adjusting the bolt can raise the car up to 1" from what I understand.

I paid $6000 for the car prior to having the work done to the car that I described in the ebay listing. When I put it on this forum months ago I was asking $6000 as it was prior to the clutch and service work recently performed.....

I was hoping to get $7500 for it on ebay but whatever it brings it brings....

Why don't you get rid of the Lexus gas hog. If fuel prices persist (and I think they will), the value of that vehicle could plunge. You have a lot more at risk there.

Can't comment on infant furniture costs other than I don't recall my sister and I ever having anything besides a play pen and a chair that we used as a launching point for oatmeal. I suspect the furniture is an emotional thing, implying that it costs far more than it's worth. I think infant furniture is more for relatives and neighbors than it is for the children involved.

Getting rid of the Lexus would be near impossible.....almost like putting a cat back in the bag once you let it out.....The wife and I actually really like the truck and inspite of the fuel costs it has come in quite handy and more practical for our needs.

I just have too many other toys, none of which are operational or near sellable condition. The 951 was not my first option of toys to sell but it was my easiest option.

Good Luck to any potential bidders, your getting a good car with lots of potential. Like I said in the ebay ad, it is a car worth putting the money into to bring it up to showroom condition or someone could easily use it as a track car as it sits.
