pulling cam tower, need knowledge ASAP
I am pulling my cam tower to replace the gasket and seals. I am to the point where I can pull off my cam sprocket so I have the set screw out from that HUGE nut which holds the sprocket on. I remember from the last time I did this job 4 years ago (I think) that this huge not is actually keyed with a key and keyway on the inside diameter and the cam. Can somebody confirm this? And if so how do I remove that huge nut? The last time I thought it was threaded so I tried twisting it and I ended up shearing the key and ruining the huge nut. How do I get this off?
waiting for replies, Speedy

Once that big 12 pt screw is out from the inside of the large nut, just take a mallet and bang around the edges on the cam sproket until you get a little bit of movement. Then, try to put the tip of a pry bar between the nut and the sprocket to wedge it the rest of the way off.
