Im doing the main peices of the suspension on my '83 944 and was wondering if there are any problems with using the 968 sway bar's?
I know they work on the 944, but how much different is the handling between the stock bars and the M030 bars? Will using the M030 bars make the daily driving a bit more difficult? Also, what would be some good idea's for upgrading the suspension on my 944? Ive replaced the front struts with KYB GR-2's and 200 lb weltmeister springs and just ordered the KLA strut brace along with the front sway bar stabilizer brackets The car came with KYB rear shocks but i have no idea how old they are lol |

M030 bars will make the car no more difficult to drive, the car will have significantly less body roll and probably not have a tendency to understeer as much. Thats probably the only major thing you will have to look out for.

The good thing about swaybars is that you don't have to worry quite as much about mechanical condition as a lot of car parts, so you can be fairly confident buying used.
For my old 944, I bought 28mm front and 18mm rear bars off eBay for a grand total of about $100. I then turned around and sold my stock bars for $70 EACH. Oh how I love eBay.

I was thinking about ordering the 19 mm rear sway bar from paragon for 150 and then getting a 27mm front sway bar off ebay for about 80 bucks or so
Would the 27mm front bar be a decent match for the 19mm rear bar? |

The 26.8mm and 19mm rear setup is what i plan to be doing.. i think its the perfect setup personally. I think the 30mm bar is a bit to stiff for my car setup.

944mech, what you have in mind works well with any 944. Keep in mind, however, that if one end of the car is a little stiffer than the other, it might push the car toward understeer or oversteer. You can play with tire pressures a little bit to even things out.

I have the 24 and 18mm bars on mine from the 86 Turbo. They work pretty good for me.

I just finished replacing my stock 21mm and 14mm bars with used 27mm front and 18mm rear bars (Ebay) on my '83. I also installed braces that I designed and fabricated (similar to KLA) to triangulate the front mounting brackets. The changes made a significant improvement in the car. Steering is now very neutral - understeer is gone - and cornering is precise and flat, but the ride quality is still excellent. The car also seems much more stable at higher speeds. I highly recommend the upgrade.

I about 2 months ago I replaced my 21mm(I think) front sway bar with a 26.8(27mm) bar. You can use the sway bar outer brackets, all you have to do is just bore out the bushings. Thats what I did. I got the bar for about $50 on e-bay from German Auto Dismantlers. They give you the bar, inner bushings, and inner mounting bars. I also got a rear sway bar assembly(18mm) and all the mounting hardware from red930guy on this site for about $120. I love the way my car handles-better than any car I've driven. I'm also just about to install the 220 lb. stock height springs which will even improve it more.
