pos. batt. cable rebuild
i need to rebuild the connector at the end of my positive battery cable, as mine is starting to fray pretty badly... everything still works, but for the sake of adding something to my job list, this is it.
what are my options? do I need to replace the whole cable? can i just cut the big connector off and buy some sort of new connector for the end? went to an auto parts store, canadian tire, and talked to a couple guys in the shop... they told me to cut my positive wire and solder in a cut battery ground cable... which i think is ridiculous what are my options?

You can easily buy a new terminal end to replace it

Bruce Arnn has a nice quality kit to change to MilSpec clamps.
http://www.arnnworx.com/battery_terminal_kit.htm You can alternativley buy new terminals, but this kit is nice in that it saves you the trouble of putting together everything you need.

see, that's exactly what i was explaining to the workers that I needed.... and they said they dont make things like that...
I think I'm going to Napa and see if they carry terminal connectors.. at least those guys have some knowledge..

Well it doesen't hurt to upgrade the post connectors and wire. Took me a good day doggin it to replace all the 4 guage wire and upgrade the alt to starter cable to a 4 guage and replace ground to batt and engine to firewall ground with 4 guage. Twas a fun project, had nothing else better to do

When I replaced mine (on both the 83 and 85) I picked them up from the local car stereo gurus. They allow for the main starter wire connection, plus "clamp down" locations for stereo, alarm, battery minder, etc...
I have been using the one on the 85 for 5 years now and can't complain!! -Nick
