2003 996 C4S w/K&N and GT2 wing
I installed a K&N air intake system in my 2003 Carrera 4S and also had a GT2 type wing added. The wing includes two large horizontal scoops for direct air intake to the K&N filter, which has increased performance significantly.
One problem which has occurred, albeit rarely, is that when using a powered car wash, the car will sometimes stall for a few times after departing the wash. I suspected this to be because too much water was entering the K&N so I made two deflector plates so only indirect air (and accompanying water) now enters the filter. Still, however, there is an occasional stall. Any advice? Please don't tell me to remove the filter and/or wing - these look and perform just too darn good. Thanks in advance. |

This may sound a little "ghetto" but why not just make a cover for the filter/airbox that you put on while you're washing it?
After you're done drying the car (assuming you do that with a shami, etc) then take off the cover and drive away. Seems like the issue is too much water getting into the air box then the fuel system, which is very bad for engine internals. Cheers Aaron |

My advice is when such vehicles or if I am washing my own vehicle for exsample, I am always am careful not too blash the rear wing area or inlets with a power wash I rather go on a low burst and attempt not to get water on such items with high amounts of water concentration.
usually I try to use a sham and I am lucky so far with out incident.
